minimum depth of a viable grow chamber

so i have a friend considering building into a closet he has. its about 6 feet tall. three wide, but only 20 inches deep.

i have a 600w light hes going to use plus my fans and all that which was just collecting dust. but my concern is that the setup will be overkill for that small of an area. considering most tents are at least twice that. were gonna try and stuff two plants in there.

ive had experience in micros that were only 16 inches deep. but it was also a 30 inch vertical space so it was somewhat equally small. and took quite a lot of tending from me to keep under control, something i wont be able to do as he lives a good bit away.

should i help him out, or would it be a waste of energy.

thanks for the input..

it's a bit much for that space but that doesn't mean it won't work. 600 isn't tons of heat and at 6' tall the footprint isn't huge but you can go higher over the canopy and the space will still be bright as hell cause it's a 600 in a 3' x 20" heh. :)

Is there an air cooled reflector or cooltube being used? If the lights air cooled I'd be optimistic.

400w bulb and ballast is pretty cheap too...

Air cooled for sure. Cool tube. Wouldn't even consider uncooled. But I won't buy anything. I have my old equip. And he has the perfect spot. So we're just going for some good smoke without spending much other than dirt and pots.
