Mini Split recommendations

Guys i can't seem to find a mini split that suits my needs . From all the reading i have done it seems everyone recommends the brand names Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Daikin, lg.

Those all seem to have heat pumps which i DON'T need and i would think would bring the cost down .

I only need a 12,000 BTU for 2x1000w . I figured if i was to go through the trouble of installing a mini split , i might as well install an extra zone for my bedroom.

So basically I'm looking for a dual zone 12,000 btu high seer WITHOUT A HEAT PUMP but WITH an inverter from a trusted brand .

All the manufacturer websites suck in that i can't narrow down to the results i need
Not even the websites i have been looking at buying from seem to have as low as 12,000 btu WITHOUT a heat pump .

Any recommendations ? TIA

I got a Mitsu 3 ton single zone Mr Slim mini split without the heat pump,
And its awesome in a room with 6 air cooled 1000s.
Just not sure if a dual zone comes without the heat pump.

i would be shocked if Mitsubishi didnt make a unit without a heat pump.

its just a reversing valve and extra expansion valve usually.

idk hwo much cheaper it would be... not appreciably so im guessing.

but keep in mind that depending on where you live... the non heat pump models may not be available locally.

also keep in mind the reasale of a non heat pump unit might be less. if you ever go to sell this thing, keep in mind a non weed grower might be interested as well... a home owner or guy looking to insulate his garage is going to be less interested in somethign without a heat pump.

also remember that there is equipmetn OTHER than minisplits... imho mimisplits are NOT best suited to grow room applications where heat loads are static.

you might also consider something like the 13 seer york horizontal discharge condensing uniits. goodman also makes somethign similar.

they basically LOOK like a minisplit... but they are far less sophisticated. they are basically the same as a conventional single stage residential condensing unit, jsut made more compact with a moderatly more expensive and less efficient multi pass heat exchanger.

are they as easy to install? no. but they are far cheaper.

Take a look here--https://www.acwholesalers.com I've ordered 2 units from them in the past.
Most all dual zone mini splits are going to have a heat pump with them. Usually just the single zones that you can get without. Price difference isn't that much with or without.

As far as 12000 btu's go, go bigger man. I had a Mitsubishi that I ran for years in a small room with 2 1K's and it struggled to keep it cool. It's better to have more than you need than to get less and constantly wish you had gotten more.

I got a Gree EVO this last time, and its a larger unit. It always runs. Never turns itself off. But it will keep the room at 65 if I want it at 65. It's supposed to be an energy saving feature. The Mitsubishi would cycle on and off. It lasted about 7 years. Make sure you take the hose to spray out the coils on the outdoor unit about every 3 months. More if you're in a dusty climate. Make sure to turn the unit off and pull the disconnect before spraying it out tho so you don't hit any electric components and ruin the unit.

I also run a Mitsubish minisplit, 18k w/o heat pump. Runs almost silently, keeps my temps rock solid. Love it.

I don't know how to multi quote so....

I guess if the price difference isn't that much between heat pump non heat pump then it's not an issue .
I was hoping to spend around $1600-$2000 . I see a gree , non heat pump dual 12k btu in that price range . I was hoping to not have to spend $2600 for such a small area. I see some carrier's with decent prices too. It looks like i should go to the next size up though to 14k-18k range . I was reading that some where having issues with humidity with over sizing in that it worked too well and wouldn't run long enough to help pull the humidity out of the air ?

the room is 182 sq.ft . (13x14) the hoods are vented . there's also 2 veg tents in there and a dehuey . max 2400 watt . It only has to run a few months a year at max . when things cool down and humidity drop i suck cool air in from the outside .

right now there's a 12k btu window banger setting on the floor of the doorway encased with r-50 insulation board ,blowing the hot air into the basement , this is also where the air blows from the exhaust hoods, and for whatever reason the humidity in the room is the highest it's ever been @ 66% not sure wtf that's about.
I just put a fan blowing air across the back of the unit to see if that helps .
with things the way they are now , I can't have friends over . This isn't an issue during the cooler months where you can't see, hear or smell anything.

If I'm going to go through the trouble of an install , one of the zones is going to go in my bedroom , The window banger is just that , constantly on/off make so much noise i can't hardly sleep , but it's way to hot to even consider not having one .

the sites i have been checking out are theacoutlet , Greendroplet , acwholesalers , goductless .

It seems everyone swears by mitsu , LG , Friedrich . Is gree or carrier a good brand ? I read that gree makes the Friedrich but don't know if it's true .

I'm just looking for the best value , not necessarily cheap , that will suit my needs and hopefully not break the bank . Thanks for your input .

Been running Mitsu's 24/7/365 for 5 years straight without hiccups. That said, if you're on a budget then go with Gree. I've seen a few of them installed here in Florida and none have had issues. 99% of the time it is installer error that causes a unit to fail.
Mitsubishi and a few others are top dog, but i wouldnt hesitate to buy a Gree if i'm on a budget.

I own a couple of blueridge 24k btu heat pump mini splits.. They were only $1100.
I installed them myself, and no issues so far.
ive got a buddy who has been using the same brand for 3 years or so..
cheaper option anyway

If it runs the whole time it's supposed to be cheaper. When it constantly stops and starts it uses more power for the start. That's the thinking behind it.

They use a dc inverter to drive the condensor. DC current makes it possible to run the condensor efficiently using only the cooling power you need, not just full tilt until it hits set point.
