mini split programable thermostat

Is there programable thermostats for mini splits? I need it to heat and cool automatically. Cool when the lights are on set to about 78 and heat (or cool depending on season) when the lights are out set to 70. I'm in a warehouse so the mini split is there primary heat and cool source. What brands are good for this application? also I am going to run 2 or 3 in the same room so if its possible to link them together to one thermostat that would be ideal.

You can set 4 different temp settings. Meaning one for lights on, one for lights off. It can activate heat or a/c depending on desired temp.

I am not sure about running multiple mini splits in a series with one therom. I mean I know it can be done I just dont know how to wire it

Odds are if you want multiple minisplits you will have to get one large condenser that all evaporator units can hooks up too....Why do you need so many? You know a single minisplit ranges anywhere from 9000btu - 24000btu. Thats a lot of cooling power.

Easily done, and no need to buy extra T-stats as the remote control that comes with the unit can control that.
Any decent brand (Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Lg) will have an "Auto changeover" feature. The unit switches back/forth between heat/cool automatically to maintain the set temp. Usually +/- 5 degrees but check the specs as some units vary slightly.
You can buy units with up to 4 "zones" but each zone will need to be programmed individually. Not a big deal, just set them all the same. Hope that helps:tiphat:

If you want to actually program a unit to automatically change the set temp at certain times then you'll have to buy a hard-wired controller for that particular brand.
Here's a website that sells the ones you're looking for; http://www.younits.com/thermostats-remote-controls-c-285.html
Their are other sites that have them for other brands such as Lg , Sanyo, etc.
Imho and from experience with mini splits, Mitsubishi Mr Slim is top dog.

That is a great resource Evil. Thanks for sharing.

I have yet to purchase my mini but when I do it is more likely going to be a Mitsubishi since they seen to have the most satisfied customers.

I too will need to have two separate temp sets for day & night.

I'm really curious how a Nest or any standard thermostat can control a mini split, all of the mini splits I've seen use a communicating 3-wire control (2 hot legs and a communication wire). Without a communicating module of some sort, it just won't happen. Good luck. From experience, go with Mitsubishi Mr.Slim.

Yeah after looking into this, I see tons of options for Mits and other big names. None for my off market one. Oh well. Hopefully sparky can wire something in and it works.

Recently replaced an indoor evaporator on my Daikin mini split and was pleasantly surprised to see that they have integrated a programable thermostat into the remote. You can program 4 discrete events per day with both different temperatures and mode (cool, heat, dry, etc) for each event. This level of detail used to require a $350 hard-wired external thermostat, so it's quite the bargain now that it's an included feature.

For the first time i can wake my ladies gently at the end of the dark period with a brief warm-up, before cycling into cool for the day, then dry for the sunset before a final deep cool sleep.
