MINI HYDROHUT

well, after seeing a few of these around, and talking to some people, i needed to get out of my closet and into a controlled enviroment. so i decided to go with the hydrohut mini, cost was $170+shipping. now, i like DIY projects, but this one was kinda outa my league, since i wanted something nice the first time around, and i needed to be able to take it down if neccessary. here are the specs:
HydroHut™ 'Mini': 39 Inches x 39 inches x 6½ feet tall

first off, there is nothing mini about this thing, i was must've been really high when sitting at the computer envisioning something of this size. i underestimated. not that that is a bad thing.....

came in 2 boxes, there's the poles, and some instructions, good luck with the 20minute assembly time, at least the first time around, it ain't happening. maybe it's the stoner in me.....:)

this thing is made of some thick-ass nylon material, VERY heavy duty. i kinda feel bad, sitting here, it's almost like i'm trying to sell it, but i'm not, i'm totally blown away by the quality, that i thought i wasn't going to get:

here are the poles, these things are basically tent poles from a large family tent, lol, very sturdy when put together....

no plastic on this things, except for maybe the the giant zippers might be some type of reinforced plastic material. not sure, but the zippers def ain't metal. will be back with more pics , getting stuff in there, and any more comments i might have. hope this helps for anyone thinking of making a purchase.

That's really tight. If I had enough room I'd get one. Can't wait to see that thing with a grow inside it :lurk:

i really like the top racks in this thing -lots of places to hang shit, and it's sturdy enough.

waiting on my new 400w a/c, going to be ran with a stanley blower, building new table also, and getting 3x3 tray,,,a complete overhaul you might say.

also, i really don't care for the interior lining... a little to reflective/shiny, wish it was a flat white....oh well.

here is my temporary setup for now. i imagine it will look/work pretty spiffy for right now. i don't have an exhaust setup yet, and my temps are under 78'F. ok for now.

edit - here is the stanley, wish i had that aircooled hood now....

I felt the exact same way with my HydroHut Mini... blown away by the high quality of materials and design that I never expected to see: Velcro'd duct / wire hole covers, (mostly) light-proof inlets, everything! I had to constantly remind people (on another forum site) that I didn't work for the manufacturer!

BTW, how's that Stanley working? What's the max. CFM rating on that thing, and how's the noise level? Like a Dayton of similar CFM rating?

Yes! Please let us know where you got this from(website)! I want one!!! Also is there any way you could post a full picture of it from top to bottom? It would really help me decide if I wanna grab one of these or a c24? Could you guys tell me which you think would be bigger?

The hydrohuts ive been eyeing for a while, especially the mini. The mounts on the top for the fan and scubber are an aawesome addition as well in the design.

The cheapest ive seen them was at bghydro for about $170 before shipping.

Here is the homebox xl it is the exact same thing as the hydrohut but has plastic connectrs on the poles, wish I would have known that before I ordered. I have come to find that if you put it in a corner and block the vents and just leave the one opposite the exhaust it is more effective for cooling. I run a 400W mh and 600w hps and it never gets over 82 with a room temp of 73-75. With a carbon filter it's a dream come true, I let my landlord come over who ever, there is seriously no smell what so ever, words can't explain. I've bought ozone generators, ionic breeze every kind of air freshener made and none of them eliminates the odor of some killer crops. If you have the room this is the way to go for a small grow. If there is one thing that could go wrong with these it would be air flow / temperatures so overkill the fan and filter, I bought the canfan 33 combo, the filter was to big for the hangers inside the box so I reversed the prefilter and put the filter on the outside with 6" duct.(a coffee can works great as a 6" connector if you want to save a couple bucks) And no I don't work for homebox either, from what I've seen I would recomend the hydrohut cause of the all metal poles, but I don't know how big the exhaust port is either on that one. the homebox xl was $280 from growco free shipping

With a hydrohut or homebox, is the setup quiet or fairly loud (with the fans, ballast, etc.)? I'm thinking about putting one of these in a big closet next year.

The fans and ballasts are just as noisy as any other set-up, I wouldn't use these in a closet though unless it's huge cause of the heat factor, when ever I have visitors I turn all my gear off just to avoid curiosity, with a carbon filter it is absolutley smell proof. I think that a key factor with these free standing grow rooms is air flow, if your running any lights over 400W you need lots of air flow cause the material it is made of is non-breathable. I always just have a normal fan running in the hallway or in the middle of the room just to throw anyone off as far as noise, you here a fan, you see a fan, you don't think past that usually. Smell has always been my main problem with grows and to eliminate odors is 90% of the battle.

^^^ Homedepot. Type stanley in the websites search. The low price will shock you.

Edit- It seams like the site doesnt show that particular model anymore. Check your local store. Last time i checked the price was a cool $45.
