Micro Grow Setup

Hey, I have been saving my money for some time now and soon I'll finally have enough to start growing.

I'll be growing 4 plants in 3gals soil pots inside a 3x3 600w HPS tent.

Here's my setup.

Tent : DarkRoom 90 II
Light : 600w Ushio Opti-Red Bulb
Reflector : Silver Star Air Cooled 6"
Inline Fan : Stealth Inline Fan 6" - 435 CFM with speed controller.
Carbon Filter : Mountain Air 4" or 6", I'm not quite sure yet.
Oscillating Fan : Normal cheap fan you can find anywhere.

My question is, do i really need a 6" fan and 6" carbon filter?

I live in Canada and will only be growing during the very long Winter season. It's pretty cold here, the house usually is below 0 Celsius when the heater isn't running.

A fellow Canuck...welcome to IC you hoser!

I've done a few grows over the winter and my cab in the basement gets chilly. Before we can answer the 6" fan/scrubber question we need to know how sensitive your location is for smell and sound.

See ya,

Thanks dude.

I live in an apartment so smell is a big issue. I'll use a combination of both, a carbon filter and a bucket of Ona Gel outside my tent.

Sound not so much, I'll be using insulated ducting and possibly a silencer if it's crazy loud.

So smell is the most important. I'd get as big a carbon filter as will fit and you can afford. A bigger filter has more surface area and will put less of a strain on your exhaust fan.

Also what you grow will have a huge impact. Be careful selecting your beans.

Now that you mention it, i could go completely insane and buy a 900cfm carbon filter to scrub my 3x3 tent, it's only 350$.
