Micro Grow Coming Soon - PC

Howsit guys,

So i plan to start my grow pretty soon. This will be done in a PC with soil and CFL's. Will be starting off with one plant. Going to try LST and maybe Scrog. I will be growing bag seed.

I have started working on the case. Stripped out the internals and wired up the cfl's. Still needs a lot of work though.

The lights i currently have in are 4 x 20w CFL 6500k 1350lm

As you can see from the pics the lamp holders need to be fixed to the case so they do not fall. I was thinking of getting a piece of wood the length of the case and mounting them onto that then mount the wood to the case?

I have added the missing front slot cover taken from another case.

Need to wire up and mount fans inside the case.

Also thinking of removing the motherboard tray? I initially left it because of the number of rivets holding it in place, after already removing 8 with only a knife and flat head screwdriver, i was not in the mood for more lol

Being from South Africa makes the grow harder because it's not easy finding the correct supplies and everything is kak expensive.

Still looking for:
2700k lights
Good Soil (Nursery's have never seen fox farm or miracle grow)
PH Tester
Nutes
Mylar or similar

As this is my first grow i would appreciate any input you guys may have, even the smallest of ideas.
Im not sure on the light cycle so if someone could enlighten me, excuse the pun lol, i would really appreciate it. Should i run 24/0 18/6 or 12/12 ???
Also let me know if i have forgotten anything.

Regards

@Dion Was looking to either DIY or use ona gel, but from what i have read ona gel is a bit too strong. Have seen some post that mention ona affecting the taste and smell of buds so leaning more towards DIY.

P.S Can you see pics now?

I see the pics now.

Looks like you are off to a good start.

You will want to start with 24/00 Then flip to 12/ 12 after a short time. That should help to keep it fitting in your case.

Personall have never had a grow that small. Someone that has will be along soon.

Thanks for the advise dion will definitely look into it. I'm a bit worried that 24/0 will be costly to run so might just start off with 18/6.

Let The Grow Begin

Let The Grow Begin

Ok so i started this grow about a week ago. The first seed i germinated wasn't doing so well so i germinated another one.

First Tree:
Started off slowly, she(lets hope) emerged from the ground with white tips on the leaves, not sure what happened or how but i thought she might not make it so i germinated a second seed.
Its been a week today since she has been above soil. She seems to be doing a lot better. The white on the tips are almost faded away as the leaves grew. She is growing pretty slowly though, i thing its because i put her straight into the 2L pot.

Second Tree:
Doing alot better then the first tree. She has been out of soil for about 5 days now.
There is a little stretch on her due to the fact that i am an idiot lol I put her in the PC but didn't add a light for her. I assumed 3 cfl's in seedling stage would be fine, and it would of had there been one directly above her. You can see in the pic she is stretching and leaning left where the other 3 cfl's were. So now i added one more above her and she seems to be enjoying her own space now.

What up 420Grow - Did you end up going with the nutrients in the pics above? I'm using different nutes. One thing I hear a lot is to start low, 1/4 to 1/2 of what the is recommended by the manufacturer. Let me know how you make out. Good Luck! Grow Green!

Howsit Buddy,

Thanks for stopping by. I didn't get the nutes. When i went to the store the guy said that it is a hydro formula and shouldn't be used in soil.

I might get this though:
https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/ehg-nutrient-kit/

Says it can be used for hydro or soil. So might give it a shot and see what happens. For now i'm using seagro plant food, its a fish emulsion and im using way less then recommended.

What nutes are you using?

I have been able to get soil that was collected in an erosion control pond. I mix it with coco, perlite and just a bit of pea gravel.

It will grow start to finish without additional fertilizer.

So just a little update. Took some pics this morning after misting with seagro fish emulsion. Both plants seem to be doing okay and growing steadily. Quick question does the plant in the cup seem to be suffering from over watering, leaves looked a bit droopy in the morning. I usually mist them in the mornings and afternoons.

Nutes

Nutes

Howsit going 420Grow.... Sorry it took a couple days to get back to you. I wanted to take a pics of my nutes for ya. They're made by General Hydroponics. They sell this stuff at most grow shops in my area. I don't think it's top of the line. Maybe hey just market it well because it seems to be commonly used by beginners. Although I must say, I'm happy with the results thus far! I included a couple pics of my kids that were taken yesterday.

Keep up the good fight!

Hi Guys,

So another small update. I seemed to have ran into some issues with my grow. The cotyledons on the 2nd(white cup) plant seems to be drying up and dying and on the 1st plant the cotyledons are yellowing, any ideas what could be the problem. Also the tips on the 1st plant are also browning could they be too close to the light?

Howsit man,

Unfortunately the battle has been lost :'( Not sure exactly what went wrong but they are barley alive and not growing much. I have decided to wait until i get my PH tester and thermometer to start another grow.
Will post some pics tomorrow.
