Micro Ebb & Flow?

Hey y'all,

So I'm setting up a grow for a friend, a small cab(size not yet determined), and he wants to go ebb & flow because he is often away from home for a week or so at a time. He also wants to go micro, so we came up with a neat idea. Why not take a few of those black seedling trays, and use them? We would then use little square seedling containers and coco for the containers/medium

Now, as we all know, those little seedling containers are pretty flimsy. To make them stronger, we took one and laid it down, covered the inside(sides and all), with a good epoxy, and then set another container over it, effectively creating a good, strong tray. I let it set overnight and upon inspection this morning it appears quite strong. I just drilled the fill/drain holes into it and everything looks to be perfect!

So, what do y'all think, am I wasting my time? I figure we could do about 16 or so plants in there, SOG style. Of course they would be small plants, but still I think it would be a great idea! Any suggestions/thoughts/criticisms?

whats the dimensions of your grow?? and how big is the tray?? sounds like a good idea to me for a micro grow.. but sizes do help to tell.. :)

Its definitely doable but the question is whether its worth your time. The seedling trays might be enough root space for 1 plant or 2 maxium. A SWC/DWC unit sounds better suited for your cab.

If your friend is going to be away weeks at a time then maybe its not the best idea to grow hydro. I know for a fact that you need to check on your setup at least daily when doing hydro or until you have things dialed in.

Either way, good luck on your project and hopefully it produces some buds for you guys!

^Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. I told him to stick w/DWC and he'd likely have much better results. I think I will still build the little E&F setup for kicks though.

I'm a soil grower myself, though I may be making the switch to E&F very soon(on a much larger scale than a little seedling tray)!

I will get some pics up if I decide to do this!!

Hey Daemon,

I have a small scale ebb and flow setup going at the moment. I am away from my grow during the week and only have one day on the weekends to do my garden chores. Depending on the demands of the plants and their growth rate its doable.... but barely. Besides renewing the resevior things as light adjustments and such definitely need to be tended to.

about my setup I am currently growing out some plants from seed so I have plants in separate containers but I normally grow clones and have used a wide range of plastic storage containers to grow in. Dont know if this helps you but if you want to see how my setup is currently, check out my journal.

cheers
