Michigan Medical Grow - 3 Strains

Hello all. Used to be SpacedCWBY. Somehow my account got really screwed and I had to rejoin.

Anyhow. I've got an ok camera to work with now and am going to try and keep this journal up and running on a somewhat normal basis. Been a while since I kept a good one online.

Working with three different strains. G-Man which is a cross of Mandala's Ganesh and Shantibaba's Medicine Man. The pics of the air-layering in progress plant below is Gman 4 of 5. In the group shot of 6 below you'll see #2 at the top and #4 on the two lower left. The other two on the lower right and the tray of dixie cups is the second strain that I have been working with.

The second is a single seed from a Jillybean cola that was accidently his with the medman pollen that was being applied to the Ganesh. Jill's Surprise or JS is how you'll see it referred to.

The third strain isn't my work. It came from a batch of seeds that I was given by a friend. His uncle bred the seeds. There was a mix of three females that were hit with one male. The other two I didn't keep around as they didn't produce much. But the one that I did keep around I named Dig, cause I dig it. Really OG kushy and produces large buds that reak of fuel and sandalwood. Quite nice smoke with a very pleasing high. It's in the large black container in the pics below - the one that looks like it just had a hair cut. Took about 25 clones from it yesterday and that's what you'll see in the ez cloner below. In the lower left of the group shot you'll see 6 clones in 3 collars. Just wanted to cram a few GMan4's in there.

I have the mother plants that produced JS and Gman#2 in flower right now along with Gman #5 and Gman #3. Neither of which wanted to root clones well. They ended up being very sativa in their structure. Complete opposite of 4 and 2 which are much more indica in structure. None of them seem to have a lot of stretch in flower. Maybe 25%. I left 3 and 5 in smaller 12" pots so they didn't outgrow my tent. JS and #2 are both in 20" pots, thinking a little more than 5 gallons? The tent is a 5x5x7. Nothing special. Just a 1000w cool tube and a fan in with them. Mostly organic. Use a 50/50 mix of sunshine #4 and a michigan product called DairyDoo. Great stuff. Full of lovely organic stuff and lots of organic additives. Use a few of GO's products and Tiger Bloom. I cringe at the thought of what the chelation salts are doing to my little myco's, but the last time I relied on a completely organic bloom fert I ended up with a disappointing yield. Oh, and I also amend the mix with Doctor Earth powders when I transplant. Flowering and veg ferts. Seems to keep them going well all through veg with minimal "soup" feeding. The Gman 4 and 2 both seem to need a little extra nitrogen from time to time but the JS and DIG are both extremely finicky eaters. They are also my healthiest two plants.

Working on getting a perpetual garden going with smaller plants in 1 gal pots. A sea of green if you will. So those little dixie cuppers will be moving shortly. I just need to get my other small tent setup with another light.

Will post up flowering pics shortly after the next watering. The cam on my phone sucks under the HPS.

Things are looking good.
Interesting genetics you have there.

What size tent an light are you going to run for your SOG?
4x4x7 an 600??

I use full organic for mine, an do well.
what did you use last for yours??
Bio Bizz is good, but over priced for what it is. I use this stuff called Age Old Organics.
Check it out...great nute, an way cheaper than bio. They have a grow, bloom, and Kelp.

Hey GL. I'm running a 1000w in a 5x5x7 tent for the bushes I have flowering now (see pics below). I have a smaller 30x36x60 tent with a 400w mh that I am getting setup this week. This will be the start of the perpetual garden setup. I will move them into the 1000w tent when the big girls finish.

I use dr earth as a soil amendment for the mycorhizae and a good regimine of organic nutes. I use General Organics CalMg with every watering. I bought some tiger bloom for flowering. Even though it's not completely organic and ends up killing the myco's I'm going to give it a shot. I should have went with FoxFarm's big bloom. It's 100% organic. We'll see how it goes and the difference it makes. I plant to use BigBloom for the SOG and compare the final products to see if I can tell the difference and which yields more.

Here are some flower pics of my bushes. I used these for moms, they are the seed plants. I have new mom's started from clones. I like big bushes for the yeilds. I need to make a few upgrades and an elbow from the big tent should help with that.

The tall one is Gman #5. Much too tall for my space. She would make a monster outdoors. Smells much like the Medicine Man. Making nice long buds already. Not too much influence from the Ganesh. She is a hungry lady too. Lots of yellowing already only 3 weeks or so into flower. I had to keep her in a smaller pot to keep her from stretching to the ceiling. She ate it clean of N! Side dressing with Dr Earth powder to make sure she has enough to keep her going for a the next few weeks.

The double top is Gman #2. Has the smell of the med man but the stature, stacked nodes, drought resistance and stalk size of the ganesh. Very happy with this one. Should be a fantastic producer. I spread her out with wire ties to maximize the light to the lower branches and occasionally have had to pluck a few leaves here and there to keep it going deep.

The shorter bush is a reveg of Dig's sister, Lenny. Decided not to keep her around anymore. She doesn't clone very well and while the high, appearance and aroma are all spot on, you build a quick tollerance to her powers. That's the bummer part...

The monster bush in the corner of the tent is Jill's Surprise. Did the wire thing with her too. Very little stretch - after she hit about 36" in veg while in a 7 gal pot, she didn't stretch much in flower at all. She has 4 main stalks and several top sats that I'm paying very close attention to. Trying to keep her pruned up well so she gets nice deep light. Seems to be paying off. Nice tight stacked nodes. Should be a great little score from her. Doesn't have the large leaves like the medman crosses seem to keep, but her stalk is huge and seems very drought resistant. Very healthy young lady that seems to have retained a lot of her Mother's traits. Smells like grape soda and sandalwood. Excited about this cross!

The clones I took from Dig and Gman #4 are showing roots at just 9 days in my ez cloner. Love that thing. I change the water every few days with clean RO and add a few drops of calmg after their first 4 to 5 days. Tip from The Revski - seems to work wonders. Within the next 3 or 4 days I'll have 6" fishbone looking roots. Then I can dig on some more Dig.

Everyone is starting to develop lots of trichs already. Some nice smells - not the run of the mill skunk funk that I'm so used to. Very proud of my girls. Hope ya'll enjoy the pics. June 10th is the 10 week mark. Not sure how long these will take, but considering the ganesh and med man are both 9-10wks I figured it would be a good reference point.

Enjoy the pics!

JS and Gman #5

BTW - GM#2 seems to be quite happy in the dairy doo with very little feeding. Ganesh, being a mandala strain, isn't a heavy eater. So I was happy to see that trait in GM2. JS is the same way, even more so. Nice to have plants that don't fall prey to the nute companies!
