Miami Dolphins' Williams test positive for MJ...again

Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams tested positive for marijuana in April and will not be allowed to apply for reinstatement to the NFL until September, sources said.

Williams was suspended last year for violation of the substance abuse policy and was eligible to be reinstated this month, but the league's medical advisors that oversee Williams' personal rehabilitation program recently notified commissioner Roger Goodell of the positive test, sources said.

The doctors also recommended that Williams not be allowed to apply for reinstatement until September, sources said. The commissioner usually adheres to the advice of the medical advisors under the substance abuse policy.

"Falling off the wagon is part of rehab," a source said. "Based on the medical evidence in Ricky's case, the doctors say it's too early to come back. He had the positive test last month. Remember, he's been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder -- that's a real disease and a good percentage of those folks self-medicate with substances like marijuana, often at the moment they are about to have a high level of social interaction."

League spokesman Greg Aiello said the NFL would have no comment, as did Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene.

David Cornwell, an attorney who has represented Williams during his substance abuse cases, said he would honor the confidentiality policies in effect with another no comment.

Damn Ricky has lost a TON of money for not making sure he passed those damn tests. Wonder if the NFL administers some new hi-tech form of test that makes it virtually impossible to pass if you've smoked.

What about steroid tests? Guess football doesnt care about that.

They sure dont , and really they dont care if you smoke pot. They do care if you openly smoke pot and get busted for it though. Drugs in NFL are like gays in the military, more of a dont ask dont tell policy. They dont care what you do really but they want a certain image to be maintained.

I think Ricky Williams is at least consistent. He is always positive for pot! But seriously there is worse shit in the NFL to be worried about. Liek all the dudes on Human growth hormone and roids that are killing themselves. Or what about all rise of players getting busted for having an armory in their homes with automatic weapons. Or the fact that many of em are married and fuck chicks while on the road. I mean if they want players to be role models i think smoking pot is a good image, a drug that dont kill anyone. If they want them to be role models they shoudl crack down on the HGH and roids so kids wont try to be like the pros and die. Worst can happen is if i kid see's ricky high is they will get high and eat some funyuns

I cant imagine smoking pot before a game. Can you imagine a 250 lbs linebacker hitting you full speed on a running play when your stoned? Doesnt sound like fun.

He can play in Canada again - we have a minimum thc level test here.

Not enuff thc? - smoke some, then get tested again.

Hell - our snowboarder won gold while stoned, puffing makes sports more fun to play and watch...

i know dude that seriously pisses me off... all the negative "studies" would suggest that the marijauan would impair his ablilty to play so why the fuck would they care if a team wants him playing?? but heeeeeey if someone wants to juice it up thats fine. fuck that

The NFL obviously doesn't want him in "their organization".

Thats the bottom line.

if they did then this woulden't be an issue...just as it's not an issue w/ the rest of the NFL (most of whom smoke weed).

Well, with missing two years I would say his career is probably over. Who would take a chance when you can get a young fresh running back out of the draft. Not only that but potentional problems he brings to your team like he did with the dolphins. Its ashame because Ricky didnt seem like a bad guy as opposed to criminals like Pac Man Jones. The really bad thing is the stigma this creates like marijuana is somehow a horribly addictive drug. I mean must be right if he cant stay away from it and it means losing millions of dollars?

MJ is not a fukin' perfomance enhancing drug.

they are trying to challenge the character of "Ricky Williams" (not an issue to me anyway)...in a round-about way.

they dont like him, they dont want him, they dont need him...this is their angle.

yeah thats my point.. you have that murderer playing for the ravens. The packers and vikings look like a 10 most wanted list.
All rickey did was smoke some weed. I think it was his turning his back on the NFL for a year that pissed them off. When he decided he didnt want to play anymore. Its ashame because I think he had alot of talent and I would love to have seen him play well in his prime.
