Hey yall...i was just in a pickle cuz im almost done with my grow right now and have done the whole things from day one with HPS. I know a lot ppl have tried this method and a lot of ppl use MH for veg and switch to HPS for flower. I would like to know what luck you guys have had with both.

I personaly thought my girls are doing significantly better during theyre flowering stage and it might be cause of the lack of the blue spectrum light. Or maybe not.

Your thoughts.

"On my last run I used a Growzilla hood with MH and HPS bulbs. The difference between the plants grown under this light and those grown under just HPS was significant. Same plants, same veg time, approximately the same lumens, same conditions. But the buds were bigger, denser, and definitely had more resin."

This was my response to a similar question in a recent thread. I thought it might be useful. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=187025

I think running both is a very good idea personally

I've also grown straight through with HPS with great results. When using a metal halide during vegetative stage you will notice the plant growth to be more lush. It will have more leaves and the nodes will be spaced more closely.

wow so it does make that bigga difference...i knew there would be better results just wanted to know how much better. Ive grown both ways but this grow is my most successful and ive done it with HPS throughout the whole grow...

i use 2 1k watt lights though as opposed to growers that use much less lighting for their veg. next time around ill prolly run both the 1k's on MH

Hps produces denser buds, with a slightly higher yield when used in flower, while MH produces more resin and a higher quality product every time. You will get more yellowing of leaves during flower using just an HPS, and when using MH in Veg you will get faster growth with shorter inernodal branching.

There is a whole other thread about this called MH vs. HPS or something. Bet that thread has a lot of info you would find useful. Peace GS

Never used MH for veg or flower... always HPS.

Couldn't imagine my stuff being any more resinous. Already ridiculous levels that don't allow using small pipes for more than one bowl without clogging. Doesn't matter the strain.

I also back the lights off the last 7-10 days before chop.

I don't doubt the thicker/bigger plants in veg at all... just haven't done it myself.

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

hiya, snoop,i use 600w sunmasters duel spectrum, best of both worlds, used to veg with mh and bloom with sodiums, last several years used the above sunmasters,, peace s2

Look at the side by side growe MH vs HPS in the next section up... I think 6,500k MH might be the way of the future.. I'll be starting a side by side of Serious AK47 and some TGA The Void and Chernobyl here in a couple weeks. I'll be using a brand new 600w Ushio HPS and a 600w Sunmaster Cool Deluxe MH.

I personally think the product of combo of both will be superior to just one or the other so hopefully I can resist the urge to rotate the plants.
