MH and HPS light... how to position?

hello everyone,

i have a 400w MH and a 400w HPS side by side, both aircooled in my flower room right now... im wondering how far away the lights should be from the plants? Theyre growing pretty quick, but some shoots are 4- 6" higher than others.... two of the shoots are about 1" away from the glass.....
can the glass be right on top of the plants?

Also, how much space do you think this setup can cover?
thanks,...

sr

this is an old pic of the trees, but same room

my lights are not air cooled so i keep them about 12" bit regarding your taller shoots, get yourself some string and tie those bitches down...level out your canopy, and get more light to lower budsites = a good thing

good luck

The pair of lights will do a great job in a 4 by 5 ft room. What is nice about 2 lights is it allows you to compensate for the difference in size of plants. I have 2- 400 watt HPS and if I have plants that are different size, I put the taller one on one side and the shorter ones on the other. This allows me to have two seperate heights.

I can usually get mine down to around eight inches, but a foot is good. Watch the tops of the plants and see how they look after you bring the lights down. I flower 10 clones in my room, and that is about it for space.......

if the lights are properly air cooled, you could get them about 6-8" from the tops.
