I will be exhausting out of my HH mini using a 4" Vortex and I need to duct about 10 feet. The duct will go to the lateral at a 45degree angle from the left, the lateral exhausts to the metal liner in the chimney. The furnace exhausting it's 4" duct at the bottom and the 3" hot water exhaust duct entering the lateral from the right at a 45degree angle. Would the posted link to this insulated flexible duct work well to quiet the air flow AND would it be safe, i.e. stand up to the heat from the water heater, furnace and condensation?

If anyone reading this is an HVAC guy I would REALLY appreciate your input as it gets dodgy when I have to explain I wish to exhaust air in my water tank and furnace exhaust escape....

^^bump^^ :)

Were you able to take a look at it on home depot's site? Anyone?

I was hoping to pick some up today if it is safe to use in this use.

Personally, I wouldn't use it for the furnace/hot water heater exhaust...the inner ducting is made of plastic and probably won't hold up to the heat - but it's fine for air cooling lights. They make some special rigid metal ducting for water heaters/furnaces and it should be right next to that ducting.

Thanks, you're right. I thought it would do great with sound reduction, guess I'll just have to wrap insulation around the ducting. Any suggestions on what would be the best way to go?

I believe the ducting for water heaters/furnaces is double layered...so any fiberglass wrap should work fine if you need additional sound dampening.
