I've been pipe smoking and dry cannabis vaping for about 2 years. I use it for relaxation, back pain, insomnia, and sometimes to improve my mood or take in some groovy entertainment or sight seeing. I tend not to mix cannabis as I'm a purest in it and think all other drugs are not natural enough that I'm comfortable with.
First, information about how and why I go about this, in case you want to try it also.
Over the last 3 months I've been trying to figure out the edible routine for me. I'm trying to acquire as close to vaping/smoking sensations as possible in edible. I think I've found the perfect easy recipe, that is easy to dose reliably. In the past I've found that dosing cannabutter is too hit and miss. So I use whole flower and it all goes in the food.
I use finger - ground cannabis. I course grind about 3-4 grams at a time and then use my fingers for a few minutes to pulverize it.
All my cannabis measurements are based on finely ground, very lightly packed "scoops". Each one of my scoops is 1/5 gram. The scoop fills up my VapirNO2 bowl perfectly. Not sure if the maker intended this size but it works great for me while cooking also. My standard or typically dosage is 1 to 1.25 scoops per recipe serving.
The cannabinoids kick in 20 -25 minutes after I finish the meal, and seems to peak consistently 2 - 3 hours in, and lasts 8-10 hours.
I've been using high THC strains in average to slightly above average medical strengths. Most of it probably falls in the 13 to 15% cannabis strength, maybe more at times. So a dry gram of my ground flower (5 vapir scoops) is about 125 to 150 mg of the mixed oils. 1 scoop is then about 25-30 mg of cannabinoids on average, if my measuring is consistent and strain strength is between the commonly sold range.
I believe in using the whole flower in my diet. From what I gather cannabis has many beneficial characteristics and should be used whole I think.
Please try this recipe a few times and see if it is consistent enough for you. It has been for me thus far...4 times. More than any other edibles I've made or bought.
Recipe:
Single serving fast soup recipe: Serves one.
Prep and cook time 20-30 minutes.
Measure 1/5 gram whole finely ground flower.
Pour 1 tablespoon (coconut, butter, and/or olive oil) into cool medium or small saucepan, large enough to heat the soup to 300ish degrees.
Add ground hemp and quickly saturate in the oil. If possible prop pan so oil and hemp is in one part of the pan, pooling in one corner.
Use a digital probe thermometer and on low to medium heat bring oil and hemp up to 270-300 degrees maximum heat for no more than 8-10 minutes.
Have your favorite can(s) of soup ready, mine is chicken noodle. Pour however much soup your want to eat in one serving into the herbs. I normally use about 1 cup, or 240ml.
Bring to medium boil slowly and once there it should be stirred constantly every minute for no more than 7 - 9 minutes. Do not allow it to every raise above 300 degree F.
Consume half if this is your first time. Wait 1.5 hours and consume other half, or not.
I've tried same amount of cannabis with stir fry baby greens, cabbage and also egg omelette. This works the best I think...the soup. Not sure why. Maybe because it better cooked? Or maybe because the soup captures almost all the cannabinoids so none are watered.
Give me feedback how this works for you please! Thx much!
