Kinda stupid if you ask me.. no one is going to get MJ legalized on the 'recreational use' platform. Medical MJ is the best thing the legal process has to date to combat 100% persecution. Without the baby steps of MMJ we would be no where in the process.

There are people that need it but seriously a large portion of people are just fucking stoners abusing states rights....

Ok Mr Frist, if you think you can tell who "need it" and don't I am super impressed

It is just such a thin line....I know you can see the hypocrisy in it

I'm sorry about the rant...I'm just butt hurt that more people who could use it aren't... :badday: ..here flame me I'm the bad guy

what the....

You know, I REALLY hate it when people dredge up old topics with a post that adds NOTHING to the thread.

Can I have the 5 minutes back I just spent reading this piece of crap?

I think that Trancerman presented us with a moral problem, that's all. He's right in his observations, as to his conclusions I dont know. It's true that the whole Cannabiz has created an industrial concept around "Medical Marijuana", which is sketchy at least, and a lot of people are surfing the wave with their own agendas.

But for what reason does it exist? First of all, to help those that can be healed or helped with Cannabis. Secondly, to create a 'breach' in that wall that refuses to decriminalize Cannabis. What hippies and freethinking people in general didn't manage to do, the medical marijuana community has done, to a certain extent.

It is easy for the no-sayers to outlaw pot on the grounds that it transforms people into addicted zombies, and unfortunately, mass media isn't observant enough to see through their bluff. But it is harder for them justify refusing sick and terminally ill patients access to an efficient medication that reduces pain, and increases appetite.
Because if you did, then you should - according to the same logic - also forbid the use of morphine and morphine derivates - or any substance that can be used as a drug - in various medical applications such as anestethics, and that would never work.
So, in short, the medical marijuana community has opened a tiny window to legalisation.
Whether the Cannabis issued out of the medical marijuana community is consumed by med patients or potheads is no concern of mine. If basic human rights had been respected in the first place, it wouldn't even be an issue.

If you are a member of the screen actors guild, or are simply fairly well off financially, that pretty much gives you open access to your doctors vicodin stash etc. Where is the outrage about that? MMJ friendly doctors know that they are being much more closely monitored than the average doc & they are not too liberal with their recommendations at all. The "stoner" who "can't believe how easy it was to get a recommendation for MMJ" is simply expressing the depth of which the taboo on the subject has penetrated his/her mind. Removing the taboo is the only thing that needs a changin imo. After all, it's not like we're talking about opiates here or anything.

Cannabis WAS legally used around the world to treat almost any condition a person had for hundreds of years before it was outlawed. Some doctors are calling cannabis the new aspirin because it can be used to treat so many things. Its stupid because they already knew it from old medical journals but buy into the drug war lies.

I don't think people with cancer should have to pay so much for their cannabis. How ever if you go to Amsterdam the good weed costs almost 20$ a gram after you convert from Euro. So it's just the price you pay to be able to drive to the store and pick up some supplies.

So its ok for 25% of Americans to be on SSRIs, which result in people drowning their children in bathtubs, because they are depressed but not ok for the same people to chose pot instead?

Ps. what hypocracy anyway? A form of government run by hippopotami?

Hypocrisy is maybe what you were thinking of?

So your position is that that too many people have rec's that don't seriously need them, and at the same time you wish that more people who aren't using it could. We're all sorry that your friend died, but that doesn't mean you should go spouting some nonsense with no thought behind it, including contradicting yourself. The real hypocrisy is that society is okay with doctors prescribing oxycontin, vicodin, prozac, etc, without questioning it in the least, but if a doctor wants to follow state law by recommending cannabis to someone who may not be on their death bed, then he's a "pot doc", and the patient is just another stoner.

If someone goes to a doctor for anxiety, depression the doctor will spend maybe all of 10 minutes with them and then prescribe them Prozac, Paxil, or something a long those lines.
These are very powerful drugs that the doctors practically hand out like candy. I for one would much rather go to a doctor that is willing to recommend cannabis than to put me on dangerous drugs like antidepressants.
Same with painkillers if you have chronic pain problems they put you on pain killers without a second thought.
Most of these "normal" doctors refuse to recommend cannabis, I know cuz I asked my primary care doctor and he wasn't having it. He'll only prescribe drug company drugs.
So I see nothing wrong with going to a doctor that will look past drug company bullshit and recommend to you the medicine that you know works for you.

If the common Joe can go to any doctor and get prescribed dangerous painkillers and anitdepressants than why can't the common Joe go and get a medical marijuana recommendation without being a hypocrite? If the MMJ really helps this person then what's wrong with that? If MMJ was dangerous you'd have an argument, but since it's not and they readily prescribe dangerous drugs what's the problem?

Prop 215 states, "for any illness for which MJ provides relief". That's the law and as you can see it clearly allows for more than just the terminally ill to have access to MMJ.

from what ive read in co its alot harder to get a med rec, unless your dying or you have 1 of 7 ailments.. it sucks because weed helps my appetite. i know im not dying or about to die but if weed makes it easier for me to eat, how is that not medical use?

dude what the **** are you on? why should you have to be terminally ill or something in order to have a condition that is deemed 'worthy' of MMJ use? how about people who smoke pot in large part b/c they enjoy it and it keeps them from smoking cigarettes? or the person with the eating disorder who maybe doesn't 'look' sick to you but pot helps them block out their eating hangups and get an appetite...i mean seriously the list goes on and on...

to restrict MMJ to the realm of 'replacing prescription painkillers' is NOT what the movement is about...MJs healing and beneficial qualities extend way beyond just some dulled out killing of pain...there are a wide range of active cannabinoids with many different properties...i'm going to stop now b/c this is a waste of time but you need to get off ur high horse...the only people abusing anyone's rights is the state and federal governments that choose to infringe upon the natural right of humans to grow and use what the earth will yield...

peace

I think most people agree that MMJ should be used to help what ever and who ever needs it. Now if the people with power knew this it would help alot more!
