Medical grow 21 plants how would u set it up?? 2000 watts or more?

Setting up a legal garden that needs to support 21 flowering plants. Have a budget of $2500. Would like to stick with soil for first few rounds. I am building this space in a basement and will frame the room out myself. I was thinking.

2 aircooled 1000 hps
8 in fan with carbon filter
6 in fan exhaust for lights
duct fan bringing air in

Is 2000 watts enough? Do u think I have to air cool the lights? Only grown smaller scale before. Am I thinking in the right direction? All ideas welcome and wanted. Thanks

Hi mtn, I can't help you on the price as I am not using dollars but 2000W is fine for 21 plants, the rest of your equipment fits the bill too, I think you are on the right track, good luck, and welcome by the way

Hey MTN welcome i just notice you only mentioned the lights, fans and lumber, you still have a few more things to calculate into the budget. Without pics or a diagram people are going to have a hard time helping you out, maybe describe your set up better i.e. how the fan system will work and how the light will be arranged ,what type\ size of pots, you get it. Look at other people who have successful grows and ask them pointed question about how their set up works. Since your looking to do a soil grow check out the soil section for advise and recommendations. hope things go well for you

if your legal and you can have 21 plants i would say use as much power as you can...i would get 4 plants per light 1000s save one plant for a mother... 5 setups and do scrog over each bulb.. 4 by 4 scrog under each bulb...

however if i was going your route..i would do 9 pplants under a 1000 in 7 gallon pots...with 3 in the middle and runn a mh in the midddle...good luck...google supercropping and scrog..and topping..those will come in handy when your limited on plant numbers...

How big is your grow area going to be.I normally harvest 21-24 plants due to state laws and get no less than 5 pounds mostly closer to six.I do use co2 enrichment though.You want at least 50 watts sq ft which is why I asked how big your actuall grow area is going to be.If 8 by 8 or larger Id go with 3 1K's.I veg my plants a long time flower in 3 gal pots and get no less than a quarter pound a plant,depending on strain.

Bio- That's what I was thinking. Do you think it might be better to 3 rows of 8? I would think you would get better coverage that way. That is what I was thinking. Also rectangular cooled reflectors not cooltubes for better coverage as well. What you think? bio what are your plans for scrubbing the air?

Omen- More lights is more heat and more money. I will upgrade when I can I have limited budget for now.

Spark- I am gonna frame the grow room out myself so it can be whatever size I want. Not sure yet until I decide on other things. How many lights are you using to get that yield and in what size space? What kinda soil and nutes are u running? How do you cool the area?

Planning my grow area and wondering when using one of those reflectors that have the ports to place cooling fans in the reflectors how close can you get to the plants with a 600w light air cooled with a 60cfm fan with the duct tied directly into main exhaust and how close could I get a 1000w light air cooled as well with 60cfm fan. Just need to know about the distance from the plants so I can figure out which would be best and also need to know for a grow space that is 5' x 4' how many plants would I need to put on it to get a yield of 800grams or so as this is a medicinal legal grow My prescription is for 5grams per day so need about 700-800 to make sure I have enough between harvests My licence allows me to store up to 1150 grams and have 150 grams out of storage area. Also this space of 5' x 4 ' is within a 380cf room with one wall of the area is a Canvas that I have glued a mylar To .Planned on ventilating the room with a 250cfm exhaust fan and tying the ducting from the reflector directly into main exhaust so with a 250cfm exhaust fan with a 60cfm fan cooling the light how big do you think I can go in terms of wattage 600w or 1000w ?
And using a 4 x 4 ebb and flow table in a 5 x 4 space how many plants can I grow on it with a 600w light or 1000w light and get my yield of 700-800grams every 3 1/2-4months max plants I can have are 25 but planned on keeping 4 for mothers so that leaves me with 21 plants that i can put on the table if needed or if they will fit and need to know what would be the best way to grow SoG or Scrog to get what I need in terms of yield and how many plants I will fit on the table as its 16 square feet is 20 to many or should I go with 16 giving each 1 square foot of space and planning to veg them from clones till they are around 12"-18" tall then go to flowering I am so confused as to how much room Ill need to get the yield Ill need and how many plants ill need to do it so any help in this regard will be much appreciated. Also input as to which would be better method to use SoG or SCroG would also be appreciated and as I undersand with SCroG ill use less plants in this setup so my grow space is 5 x 4 x 5H in a 9 x 7 x 7 room the height in grow area is 5' because of table height so let me know what lights i shoudl use in this area and is my ventilation sufficent and what would be best way to go SoG or SCroG and how many plants will I need to grow up to 21 total to get 700-800 grams with a total grow time of around 3 1/2-4 months from clone till harvest using mh in veg and hps of course in flower. please help me
