maxibloom dose and ph question (growing in ffof and fafard mix)

well i just switched to maxibloom today. I think i overdosed as i used 21 teaspoons for 15 gallons. Im at 1 week flower and was using pure blend grow and lk for veg. I think i should have use 15teaspoons but it was 7am and i looked up lucas and it said
7 grams per gallon so i converted 7grams to mean about 1.3 teaspoon but i was slightly unsure.

anyway is 1tsp per gall the correct simple dosage?

also i never ph my water except when cloning in rockwool. Its just never been needed. I use tap water and have no need for cal/mag additive. But ive been reading alot about people ph'ing after maxibloom. If using soil is there resally any need to ph?

last question. I still have a bunch of "sweet" raw that i plan on using starting maybe week 5 of flower. maybe 10ml per gal on top of the teaspoon/gall of maxibloom

i personally use the small side of the green scooper that comes in the bag. its a little under 7grams but 7grams seemed to not agree with some of my plants.

as for PH'ing after you add the maxi, i would highly suggest that you do it. i know when i mix my maxibloom up, along w/ a couple other things, my ph is usually 5.0-5.3 (ro water). you want your ph around 6.3-6.8 for foxfarm

so i was reading this guys post and was looking for comment. Ive always used PBP soil for flower so i think its "ph buffered"? Is that why maybe ive never had to ph.
In the past id just add the pbp and whatever else i was using and never bothered with ph. I never had any major fet issues except in the beginning when i used too much reading the manfactures recipe to kill your plants

"Adjusting your PH when growing in soil Damaging your plants! permalink

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi people

ive been reading through alot of threads posted by soil growers asking for diagnoses on there nutrient deficencys not that i am claiming to be an expert as we learn something new everyday i take a look anyway to see if i can be of any use

something what i have noticed alot of new soil growers doing is adjusting the PH of there nutrient solution before feeding there plants which is potentially doing your plants more harm then good because it could be causing nutrient lockout which shows up on your plants as a nutrient deficency then they over feed and add more nutes

"You shouldn’t worry too much about your water pH and we don’t recommend pH adjustment of water for soil/compost plants. Many soil growers still make the mistake of adjusting their pH when growing in soil but there really is no need – you could even be damaging your plant and its potential yield. The nutrient availability pH range is much wider in this organic environment than in hydroponics and the introduction of acidic pH adjusting liquids into these environments is neither necessary or desirable". that is a quote ive taken from a reputable hydroponic store check out there blog for more tips on soil growing i posted this quote and link for people who may still be sceptical if this is true or not to start u on ur new research to confirm this info
http://www.growell.co.uk/blog/2011/0...owing-in-soil/

ive done alot of soil grows and never adjusted my nutrient ph with great results i will start a journal soon for people to view first hand i have always bought a soil that has a stable PH 6.5 is ideal for soil which should be stated on the soil bag and if it is a good quality soil it should stay stable for a crop cycle if not people add lime to adjust the ph of there soil so its the PH of the actual soil you want to check not ur feeding solution but i have never had to check my soil ph with a probe but if really want to u can

from this thread i am just trying to stress to new soil growers look into the soil your buying and leave the hydroponic ph up/down to one side

also i have some gh ph down i use when i clone with rockwool. but i have no ph up.
Is the ph up at the pet store ok to use even if not ideal? it would be way easier to use this

I don't know about an alternative for ph up but usually adding tap water (mine is at about 6.8) makes my water rise in ph and I don't use the ph up I have on hand.

I use the small scoop which can range between 5 and 7 g depending on moisture per gallon and 3 mL of cal mag. Before you add the mixure check your ec/ppm and ph and adjust then. Example, when I drained my 17 gallon res last week and replaced water I only added 12 gallons, let the water bubble and mix with all the nutes and slowly (over the course of 2 bong loads) added the other 5 gallons to ensure the ph could be corrected and keep the ppm/ec at the desired level. I keep my ppm at about 1100-1400....I once burned my plants by adding more than needed and had 1800 ppm. Needless to say I drained water and added new water with no nutes. Everything turned out okay.

What I have read and learned that regardless of nutes--soil or hydro, ph and ec are the most important factor. Also, less is more. Keep in mind I'm a noob but 6.5 zips off of my first single plant is nothing to sneeze at.

Good luck!

so i cked ph this morning after diluting down to about 1tsp per gall. I use the drop/vial kit with color chart. color was yellow with hints of orange which the chart indicates around 5.6 or so. It may take me a week to get gh ph up thats why ill ask one more time

can i just use the ph up at the pet store for aquariums? i know the pool stuff is different but not sure about aqurium. If not anything natural easy to raise ph like lemons lower?
