was there ever such a strain called "maui wowie" that is reportedly supposed to be so good or is it just one of the strains like g13 with a million different stories behind it?

click my gallery for some Kona Gold, Wowie is a far more popular (and preserved/marketed) strain to my understanding, the wowie coming from maui, and the gold hailing from Big island Kona, back in the seventies..both

Lately I think the killer was some Hilobud(SAGE) that was goin around from over on from the Big Island. I love all the buds over there, outdoor AK47, Blueberry, Molikai Frost, as weel as a few local strains.

Year's ago when I use to live in Hawaii, Maui bud's were rare and hard to come by. Every now & then, we use to score the odd oz. from Maui. It was very sweet tasting, - probably some of the sweetest tasting of all Hawaiian bud's- and it packed a very potent punch too.....

thanks tk, everything i've ever smoked or read about labeled as "Hawaiian" has been superb and super tropical-fruity, never visited but a family friend had brought the beans back as medicine for his dying wife (end stage MS), bud was free, got 12 f1s in the vault from him as well, hopefully the pure genetics will be out to the masses (SeedBay?), just not till a future run, now will be focusing on a growable version x'd to an indy (unknown strain, "BC Bud") or a skunky sensi od mix male, worried about this.. from whom does the taste carry over from? mother or father? same for smell? i would guess knocking a kona up with a bc bud or odmix male would shorten flower times... any help would be spectacular. thanks again Tex.

About a year ago I acquired some beans from a generous source that are Adv Mix x HMW. I assume that is Hawaii Maui Wowie. I stored them properly and never gave much thought into trying these beans but I'm thinking there has to be something of interest to come out of that. Hmmmm

Yeah as Texas said Cherry Bomb II is supposed to be related to Maui Wowie. Check out CBF's grow of it, he's done a run with it I beliebe. Came out real nice..

From what I understand,
Cherry Bomb is a select cherry pheno of Maui Waui that was grown out and refined by Mr. Greengenes. His version was somewhat prone to hermie though.
Reeferman obtained some CB from Mr. Greengenes, and crossed it with another cherry bomb (I think also of Maui Waui descent) he obtained from Cali, I think it had a little bit of indica in it also. He refined the cross and worked out the hermie tendancy that Mr. Greengenes' CB was prone to. The resultant strain was named Cherry Bomb II.

I have that one going right now.luci says it will get to be 12ft outside. hillbilly panic kids love thm big sativas. trying my damdest to convince someof the older growers to use the new genetics. new berry 3 blue phenos hash plant 14,durban sk,willies wonder,just to name a few.it dont take no more than a taste

MrGreengenes, over on OG, has a open pollinated line of original mauie wowie. he came across the cherry pheno and has been messin with it for quite sometime, 20 years or so if my memory serves me right.
I grew out some beans from his early 05 harvest. had 6 females, all sported bananas after a few weeks of flower, and pollied itself quite a bit. most of the plants produced very airy sativa structured bud. not much of a tric field, and really not a overwhelmin cherry flavor or aroma in any of um. did have one good yieldin plant with tighter bud. its currently curin in a jar.
RMs cherry bomb is from mendicino, I dont believe it has any maui in it, which he used in conjuction with MrGs line to come up with CB2.
i do remember a story from DrJay where he was hangin with friends tokin up, and a chick pulls out a joint, and just destroys everyone. the bud was maui wowie. he had commented it was some of the most powerful shit he had ever smoked.
treating yourself, or somethin like that has MrGs seed for sale. I do know that RM, richard williams and myself experienced hermies in our grows. i wasnt to worried as its pretty easy to rid a line of the hermie tendency, but ya gotta at least get a few plants that dont sport bananas.
