I was gifted some MTF beans that were originally from Alaska Cannabis Cache, does anybody have experience with this strain? here's the description from what little information i could find:

Matanuska ThunderFuck is a mostly sativa variety from ACC and can be cultivated indoors (where the plants will need a flowering time of ±91 days) and outdoors. ACCs Matanuska ThunderFuck is/was never available as feminized seeds.

Sativa Dominant Old School Hybrid, long flowering up to 13 weeks huge plants with massive yields this is the Original from Lazy Mountain area of Palmer Alaska, in the Matanuska Valley, long rumored to be gone this is an IBL that has been regenerated since 1974, and only shared with very few local growers in remote Southeast Alaska.

Sounds interesting! I did Grimm’s version back around 2002 but it was about 65 days flowering indoor, probably something different from the above. Some great phenos in there though, skunky and a good degree of variation between 3 or 4 ladies I found in a pack

Lazy Mountain, back in the day, was home to numerous notorious old-time growers, as well as some catastrophic legendary busts.

MTF has been discussed on the forums many times, and some/many folks familiar with the State agree that a 'specific and isolated' or unique strain referenced as MTF never really existed, per se'.

The seller's/breeder's description depicts the Mat-Su and Lazy Mountain (which is out of Palmer) as being in SE Alaska. It is not. The locations referenced are in South Central Alaska. Maybe just a typo or misunderstanding.

The strain sounds quite interesting, none -the less. Good luck with them.

Goofiest name on a bag of weed I ever bought in the Great White North ended up being my star of stars, from one bag-seed. But it was apparently a recessive (understatement) phenotype, as none of her self-pollinated beans bore ANY resemblance to the great 'Herbina' (the name I gave my female from bag-seed)

Anyway, when we moved from South Central to the Interior, she was lost, though I still have a few remaining 'selfed' beans stashed some place here from her that I could make an effort with...

The original point being that the fellow who'd grown her, and sold her to my acquaintance, had called her "North Polio."

I'll always remember that name, not because it was a specific strain, but because it was extremely good weed. And because it had a creative, goofy 'label.' ;^>)

Yeah, came across ATF near Palmer in Matanuska Valley in '87 while experiencing the State Fair. Quite different than my other fair experiences....reindeer instead of cattle, cabbage weighing 800 lbs, goose berries the size of quarters! What a spectacular time!

Traveled the transportation ferry from Haines to Seattle and enjoyed NL and ATF with those returning to life after working the summer salmon sliming, waiters, construction, bringing home seeds. Wish I still had them, as with others -I'm still lamenting about Red Eyed Genetics, Washington Apple....sniff, sniff....Ortega and Pez.

ATF was an excellent strain! Have it in an auto hybrid of ours. Got seeds from someone in Yukon area, Pelly Crossing. Not the same, I'm sure.....but close enough.

grow em to know em.

edit:

Incidentally, I met Mr. Soul of Brothers Grimm and asked about the MTF they had offered originally. Several times actually but all he told me was he didn't plan on running his remaining beans as his partner Sly had "pulled the strain out of his ass" but that might be a good thing after trying the New99 which was 50% c99 at best.

Interesting, I wonder what “pulled the strain out of his ass” means? What I saw certainly wasn’t stable but some nice genetics in there

Seems like the sativa version like you are describing is the "REAL" version (likie drgreenthumbs)

However there is an indica one that goes by the same name that you could also consider the "real" version just with the same name and just refers to the region its grown.

Thats about what I've been able to figure regarding "MTF"

As for Brothers Grimm, none of their new stock has any interest to me, personally.

well indica version is later version. so later is not original. it happened to almost all varieties through 80´s. many of them started as sativa hybrids at 70´s, but was crossed with indicas at 80´s. trainwreck, romulan, matanuska, big sur holy weed, haze, sour diesel and others.. now we have mostly these indica influenced versions, so matanuska that flowers for 13 weeks is pretty rare and unique stuff. I bet it is very very good.
