Maryland Hydroponics stealthiness in shipping?

Considering purchasing some equipment from MH, a vortex 6" inline fan and a can-filter 66. I am wondering how stealthy their shipping boxes are...for instance do they say "hydroponic" on them anywhere? Is it going to be obvious to the delivery guy what I am buying?

Also, regarding payment, would you pay with a credit card (by far the easiest..) or would you choose to pay a different way, and if so, how?

The boxes they ship are plain brown boxes but on the shipper address it does say mdhydro on it.

I would get a friend to pay with a credit card then just pay them back, thats what I did. No paper trail leading to me.

My lights came in boxes clearly marked "Bat Guano"...but the return address was discreet . Ask em for a plain brown box and you should be ok.

Hal, On Jan 1st, I ordered the very same items from MD. As of Friday the 5th they hadn't shipped yet. I seriously doubt the delivery guy will even look twice. .I'll let Ya know .

The fans and light I got from them came in plain brown boxes with MD Electronics on the label, though I've heard that others have had very indiscreet methods of shipping.

BGHydro shipped the HydroHut in its original packaging, with "HydroHut" and "grow room" and all that crap all over it.

MD Hydro did a pretty good job, when I asked them to ship discreetly. Actually, they would have done perfect if they didn't forget to take the "General Hydroponics" tape off of the 4 x 1 gal GH nute container carton that they shipped my bulb / timer / flex duct in!

As in, MDHydro received their 4 x 1gal GH nutes in that container from GH, which was sealed with GH tape, and when they opened it they simply cut through the tape with a knife instead of ripping the tape off, right? Well, they simply put clear tape right over that tape. That box was received by my apartment manager... been about a month and no word, so I'm just hoping the apartment manager had pretty bad vision (it's a bunch of small "General Hydroponics General Hydroponics General Hydroponics General Hydroponics", green text on white tape).

It seems that Maryland Hydroponics does ok, but could do better. I am a bit surprised that they (and any other hydroponic store) are not 100% thorough in their efforts to mask the content of their shipping boxes, considering the consequences involved. They should emulate the seed companies.

Cracker....I look forward to your report upon receipt of the merchandise, since it is the same that I will be ordering, I am guessing that the shipping container(s) they use for your stuff will be the same for me when I order.

I think that the stealth of your package, regardless of the vendor, is going to be luck of the draw. Different guy in the stock room that day, ran out of plain cardboard boxes or not, etc. Also depends on WHAT you buy. My bghydro order wasnt anything that had it's own box (netpots, site plugs, etc) so the items just came in a plain brown box.

Hal, I placed my order on the 1st got the scrubber on the 9th, the fan came in on the 12th. I understand items come from differant places. The scrubber was wrapped in plain cardboard & the fan came in a plain white box. It took longer than I expeced but for the money I was satisfied.

Hard to beat the prices on the Vortex fans from MD Hydro. They have some great deals on the Can-Fan scrubbers, too, even after shipping. They also charge only the actual cost of their shipping (they don't tack on some superfluous "handling fee").

I don't see them (mdhydro) going through a bunch of extra efforts to make stuff super discreet, like not putting their name on the box. Officially as a company, they don't condone the marijuana growing part of things even though thats who they cater too. They are my local hydro store and I've been there a few times (made a stop by today ). Three times when in there, I've heard people mention (stupidly) to the people working there eiher marijuana, or getting caught. Each time they said that they don't wish to serve that type of clientele and asked the person to please leave the store.

As for me (please check my name), I'm loving it because at least in the store they offer a 7% discount for teachers As far as they think, I'm the "botany" teacher that keeps coming in there even though I corrupt the minds of our youth teaching social studies......

Everything I got was drop-shipped from Hydrofarm and it was all over EVERY box I received except for the lumenace and lumatek ballasts.......It`s just a good thing it was shipped to a bullshit addy ..........They now have a category to pay "extra" for discreet shipping...........Hmmmmmm.........No one`s been complaining huh?.....PEACE...........DHF............
