Hello! As I just got my new tent, a Mars Hydro 100 cm x 100 cm x 180 cm(h), I want to share some pictures and info about it.
First of all, I want to say it was very simple to do it, reading the book wasn't really needed for me, as I did others tents before.
When opening the package..
I quickly found the model in the leaflet, if I needed any extra info on the job:
Basically, there are 8 steel corners, 8 bars that form the (short) upper and lower sides and 4 pairs of 2 bars that toghether form the long sides (the height of the tent). All pieces interlock by spring pins that you have to push in to be able to insert or take out any connection between the poles and the corners or between the 2 poles that pair eachother to form each of the 4 lomg sides.
This is nice, as my older tent did not have metal corners or anything to keep it from coming apart, like the spring push pins this has. Which I found fun when dissasembling it today.. while trying to disconect one of the side poles, 2 more came apart and I had to juggle my body in order to sustain all the pieces so it doesn't bend and crash on me.
Here are the pins:
The tent cloth, the layer you put on the frame to form the tent, was under more protective cardboard:
Also in the pack I found some fun Mars Hydro stickers [image missing].
Tent cloth looks good, quite thick, and with nice reflective pattern on the inside. Dunno if its really that much better or my old tent faded or was dirty... but to my eyes it seems much better with the new tent. I mean my Mars Hydro FC3000 ledlight is at "min." setting of about 10% power and I can barelly keep my eyes fully open while looking at the seedlings I have put inside under it in the tent.
A nice rubber or silicone pad with Mars Hydro
branding also seems of good quality:
Also, my 5 cents say those are some big ass zippers:
The zipper track seems to be metal, and should be very durable, but they do make a bit of noise when using. I will fix that with some zipper lube or beeswax.
Just I was getting ready to violently pull the tent cloth over the frame, I encountered this warning:
Just in time to calm me a bit and send me on a joint break!
As you can imagine putting this up was pretty easy once I managed to clear the old tent out. (And finish smoking the big joint.)
I used a protective blanket on the floor of my garage while putting the cloth over the frame so I don't damage the tent cloth. I also used electrical tape to go over the metal corners, as I know that is where some of the biggest pull forces are while using the tent, and I wanted to protect the tent cloth as much as I could while I was installing it and also while I use the tent. This is something I recommend you all to do if you want to keep your tent better and longer.
Tent has a lot of intakes! I will be using the one on the back wall:
The intakes are screened, which is nice!
Tent also has a lot of wire ports and intake and exhaust ports for whatever cooling solution a grower might need. Ready even for old HPS cooltube set-ups with multiple intakes and exhausts on oposite sides.
I will be using one of the ceiling vent ports for exhaust fan tube and a side vent port for the wires I need to get in and out:
The ports are all double blind-covered, so its easy to seal them very good for not escaping light. It was also very easy to close all the unused ports with the pull-tie thingies that close them. Don't worry, there are more vent and wire ports that I could get into the pics, every wall has some except of the front and floor of the tent.
The front of the tent has a nice viewing window to quickly check on the plants without opening the zipper (the viewing window is screened as well) . It's a nice option. My old tent had it's viewing window on the side, so I could not use it because of no acces, but with this one I can check on them each time I get to the garage.
So, after all is said and done, this is another Mars Hydro product that seems to be of good quality. I sure hope it survives the passing of time well, and no problems appear! Everything seems to be thought of, there is even a repair patch patch available in case a tear appears in the cloth. And even the repair patch is diamond reflective coating on one side. There are also some straps to hang your filter, and as usually, the crossbars to use as suport for lights, filter and other hardware. They even included a tool bag that can be hung either inside or outside the tent.
