Marineman's second run - 600w revised bio buckets - Blueberry OG Kush

Hey Mojave, i don't have a link but I do have the above picture. I bought it in store, but I'm sure you could find one on the net. The vaporizer was $99 and the bag of prills was $7. They are very easy to use, just pour the prills in the bowl, plug in the heating unit, and place the bowl on the hearer. Let it got for about 2 hours, once a day for 3 days for a full clean. After the two hours is up, unplug it and let the vapor sit for another hour, then open a door or window and let all that vapor out. And if you need to use it during a run, just mist your plants with some ph balanced water and you're good to go. Not only does it help against fungus and air born bacteria, but it will take care of common indoor garden pests as well, ie spiders, flys, gnats. Really happy with the results, as my system will have been running clean for the past two weeks since using the CS.

Hey fellas, just wanted to throw up a new pic. The new girls are really starting to take off. I placed the rockwool cubes in some sterilized perlite, and it seems to be helping to wick excess moisture away from the cubes and forcing the roots to search for water. Ive just been misting them once or twice a day, and hopefully the roots will pop through the bottom so I can get them in their new home soon! The plant mansion.

The reason the two in front are a little stumpy is cause the taproot was smoking rocks and got lost on its way down, did a weird loop up then down again so the stem has a little unraveling to do. Hopefully they pull through.

On a quick side note........

PACKERS FOR THE FUCKING WIIIIIIIIIIIIN!

Ok, all better...

Hey guys update time.

I just got done moving the ladies to their new homes. I moved 5 of the 6 seedlings, leaving 1 in the tray. Im pretty sure i snapped the taproot trying to unravel it from itself, so ill give it a few more days to re-shoot its roots. Hopefully it comes back ok.

I gotta say that im super happy with my new method for starting seeds. I gave them a good spray in the morning and the perlite wicked any of the excess water away throughout the day. It really made those roots shoot out the bottom. I actually hadn't planned on transferring today, but I checked the roots on one of the cubes and saw they had been out the bottom for awhile. Super easy to use.

I wanted to post the numbers on the nutes and things I added today as well. Decided to start with 10% of the suggested use to begin.

Additives:
DynaPro Grow: 50 ml
GH Root Accelerator: 10 ml
Botanicare Aquashield: 250 ml
ZHO: 1/4 Tablespoon to each bucket

Starting stats:
PH: 6.0
PPM: 20

After nutes:
PH: 6.2
PPM: 140
Rez H20 temp: 62.5 F
Bucket H20 temp: 68 F

Now cravin has told me a few times he never checks the PH in his system, and I'm trying to follow suit this run and not be such a god damn cynic. So ill keep an eye on the PH and make sure its not having any adverse effects, but will resist the temptation to add PH adjuster.

Side note, I remember my buddy who first got me started with bio buckets tell me once, "Let your system run for two weeks before putting anything in the buckets to let the bennies grow, and when its ready the water will feel slick." Never understood what he meant by that until a day or two ago. I felt my water in my rez and it does have a slickness to it. Hard to explain without feeling it for yourself, but it finally clicked what he meant by that.

One last thing...

CRAVIN! I was watching TV this morning and saw this. See it? Look close. You're the only one thats gonna get why it made me laugh...

Oh I don't know, he jumped out at me as soon as I enlarged the pic, it made me laugh too. I guess Dan is Cravin More Head too.....lol

@Marineman
Looks like I'm gonna have to reread your sprouting technique I've been procrastinating popping my winter crop. Things are gonna look real good in your garden soon.

Ahhhh, don't be so modest, that's all you in those girls man! I dream of a day in this country when people like us can get together and share our creations without the fear of some bullshit. Someday bro...

Hey guys. Just putting up a few pics of the progress.

The ladies are coming along nicely, steady growth.

One note, I talked with my buddy who got me started growing with this system. He suggested I use coco for both cuttings and seed starting in hydro systems. Hes not a fan of rockwool, and I think I agree. RW is a pain in the ass cause if it gets too wet, you get damping off. Also coco apparently will disintegrate into the system. So i think ill try that out next run.

Oh and I figured out what that slime I thought was cyanobacteria was. It was the ZHO root inoculation. I think it was an over abundance of bacteria/proteins. I think the system is so super charged in terms of air and water flow, that they just exploded. I remember back when I started researching bio buckets, that a few people had protein skimmers incorporated into the design for just that reason. So from now on, the only thing im adding to my rez are nutes and a little rooting hormone. Im finding the system itself is designed to not need all the BS "miracle products." Just thought id share that so others dont make the same mistake I did. Guess thats how we learn.

Wassssup Marine.... your new babies are lookin good.

I had a couple new girls pop last night, they're about 2 inches tall and I'm just starting to get them ready to move into the veg cabinet. Gonna try something new in the veg process to see how it works, I think I got about a week to get the buckets ready for them. I'm going to introduce fogponics in the rootzone to see if it'll make a difference in their health before transferring them to the flower buckets.

That fogger idea is a good idea man. My only thought would be how maintenance free the fogger nozzles would be. As long as they stay free of debris i bet they would make for some nice roots bro.

That was my thought too. I think I have a way around that problem, from the reading I've been doing one way to combat it is by using teflon coated disk. Another way, along with the teflon disk, is by using some type of clear water jet cycle to clean the disk. I think that I'd only have to use the teflon b/c I'm only going to use it during veg when the nute's are at a very low concentration and when they are ready move the girls to the BUCB system.

Hello Marine Man,

I was reading the beginning of this thread, and wanted to send you a private message, but I couldn't figure out how. I just made this icmag.com profile/membership thing. So I'm still figuring shit out. But you said that at your worst point, you were using 80 perc's and about as many OC's a day, and that the blueberry (if I remember correctly) strain you grew really helped with pain. I'm using a bit more than you were, but I would like to get my life back from opiates. Nothing would make me happier. I'm sure you know what I mean..

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm very new to hydroponics, and I could use any and all advice. My setup is much less complex (read: impressive) than yours. If you have the time and the inclination, any tips, techniques, suggestions w/e you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

And btw, thank you for your service. I try to thank everyone who serves. I wish I had made different choices when I was younger, I might have been a Marine.

I hope I haven't said too much or broken any rules in this post. If I have, please just delete it all together, and accept my apologies.

Respectfully,

Hydro Freshman

Welcome aboard Hydro Freshman glad to have you around, I'm sure Marineman would agree. By the way you need 50 post before you can use the PM system.

Hey hydro, welcome bro!

First I want to say is, the whole point of me posting my story in the beginning of the the thread, was in hope that someone thats still on that dark road would see it and realize that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I gotta tell ya, when I read through your post, a tear hit my eye, cause I know how hard it is bro. I know that struggle.

You were correct about the amount of painkillers i was on, I still feel super blessed to still be alive, because everyday I took that many, could have easily been my last.

Now I haven't grown the blueberry og kush that im currently running. Although ive had the blueberry before and just was really impressed by it. Just remember, im still super new to all this and only have one run under my belt, but with the help of the really generous people here on icmag and a few friends that know the ins and outs, ive made some long strides in learning.

I ABSOLUTELY HAVE THE TIME AND INCLINATION TO HELP YOU BROTHER, BECAUSE I AM MY BROTHERS KEEPER. Im a disabled vet so i have ALOT of time on my hands to help someone get off that train youre on. When you get some time, go snaps some pics of youre system and post as many details about it as you can on this thread, and im sure between me, raziel or cravin, could either help or atleast point you in the right direction. You came to the right place. In fact, if it werent for cravin taking the time to help me on my first run, I would be soooo much further behind. So ill definitely take the time to pay it forward.

Thank you for the kind words about my service. Raz and I are just a couple of Marines that like to get faded with good company :)

And in no way have you broken any "rules." It does my heart good to see you looking for another direction.

Welcome brother.
