Marijuana Similar to Caffeine?

G

Guest

Hey All,

Haven't posted in awhile. I watch the boards all the time.

I've been thinking lately on some stuff.

How similar is marijuana to caffeine?

Well, maybe just the sativa-type strains?

I got started thinking all this stuff when I didn't have weed in awhile. I mean...usually I would start my day with caffeine of some sort, for the stimulant action. And whenever I would feel a little low or just want to be sped up I would drink more tea...or have more tea "sessions".

That is what I do. I stay away from coffee, but drink tea, green mainly.

But I usually have these ritualistic sessions, where I brew it up, and just sit there with myself and the tea, and smell and drink it. I kinda make it a meditation, and by the end I'm feeling the stimulant effect nicely.

I just got to thinking...why do so many people hate on marijuana? Marijuana is a plant, just like the tea plant. The difference is, most people burn and inhale the particles, unlike the tea plant. But its still a plant. And it still has a lot of stimulant qualities to it.

I think its just certain strains that are like this.... like the one I've been smoking the last month or so. I find when I smoke this, that I get more energy to do stuff... workout, clean, take care of tasks around my place, errands...

How is this different than caffeine? I mean... if suddenly there was a parasite that infected all the tea and coffee plants, and there were no more of those traditional stimulants for the world market, then I think weed (at least the stimulant types) would become more popular...

Well, what do you all think? Have you ever thought about this? I guess sometimes I still have it ingrained in my mindset sometimes that weed isn't good to just have everyday, but... then I think... I have the tea plant everyday! And most people are doing caffeine multiple times a day... so couldn't you just smoke multiple times a day? Or am I comparing apples and oranges?

I mean... I've heard that certain groups of people would smoke the sativa marijuana before working in the fields, becuase it gives you more stamina and physical energy. How is this different from the Incas chewing on coca leaves? Or the asian people and their tea leaves... or the US with their coffee?

I mean... is it really possible...that all this stuff is the same?

What is that supposed to show? The pic is not coming up. This topic is really interesting to me. I mean, if people trust themselves and feel its okay to have coffee or tea a few times a day, then why can't people do the same with cannabis... or further...with any drug?

you're right, it makes absolutely no sense for tea to be legal while marijuana is illegal. but unfortunately, governmental policies are not based on logic, but stupidity.. and greed. i'm sure that everyone in the government that can think realizes that marijuana is no more dangerous than a cup of tea, but the policies are too ingrained in society for it to be changed based on the fact that it makes no sense.

I swear I have never felt a buzz from caffiene. Even if I drink an ass load of coke or any caffenated drink (not real fond of tea or coffee) I never get a buzz or anything. Same with sugar, they really just do not affect me. But your right, if I have not smoked in a while I will get hyper as a 2 year old on crack. I talk alot normally, but whenever I smoke I CAN NOT shut up. I will sit there thinking to myself "Ok, let other people talk. Try not to dominate the conversation, just sit back and listen." Never happens. If there is more than 3 seconds of silence I just start rambling. Most of my friends find it amusing, but ocassionally I will think I have a real problem. Oh well, been like that my whole life, so I am not too concerned.

You and I sound like two peas in a pod I agree with everything you just wrote, I almost feel you have described me.

Similar as beer and chocolate?

What do u mean by this?

I just smoked a bowl, and did a bunch of things. I moved a bunch of musical instruments, then proceeded to jam out and be a rock star for 1 hour. Like...belting out vocals, jamming solos and rythmns, while standing up and my whole body was getting into it.

Then I went to the gym, and was going crazy in workouts...totally freestyles different movements.

It was a definitely stimulant effect from this weed. Different in that it was more of a creative stimulant effect. But still got my heart rate and energy flowing. So in this way it was similar to other stimulants.

i cant disagree with you as far as doing work and rockin out, but if i try to do some advanced algebra after smokin, forget about it! that's a gap that only coffee can fill.

edit: now that i think about it, pot was better than coffee when i was doing botany homework, cause it's all about memorizing words, and i could make a game out of it. with math, i have to use my head efficiently.

haha yeah totally on the math stuff...

although i did know about a girl who's cousin bred some weed and called it A+. Supposedly he got all A's that semester from the weed. He then gave the weed to his cousin and she got all A's that semester too... she would smoke it twice a day. It was a really stimulative effect... probably pure sativa.

caffeine works a lot differently on the brain the thc does, is more addicting then marijuana (mentally) and unlike marijuana there has been caffeine overdose death. Yet the drug is quite common in just about everything soda.

Caffeine, from what I think I know, makes your muscles tense. Weed relaxes your muscles. So they're opposite of each other.

I don't think I've ever smoked a pure sativa plant, and if I have it didn't give me an energetic high at all. Every time I get high all I want to do is drink, sit on my ass, and play video games.

Most people in the western world have never smoked a pure sativa...they take a long time to grow and for most commercial growers this just isn't viable. Thai weed or Durban Poison are classic examples of sativas....most everyone in the US and the UK smokes indica dominant hybrids.

coffee is a drug that makes busy-bees work more efficiently :D drug for the wage-slaves...Cannabis is one that hits your chest with light and changes your individual thought patterns enough to realize you are in a rat race; so it is outlawed, bad for business. :joint:

I smoked weed for 2 years before I ever did any other drugs and as far as cannabis being a light that hits your chest and makes you realize you are in a rat race, that never happened for me till I did mushrooms after I did mushrooms nothing mattered but happiness, knowledge, and love.

Try taking it at its basic value instead of what you think it does. Weed is and always has been a psychoactive only without any established CNS impact, caffeine has always been a central nervous system stimulant. Lowest reported amount of caffeine overdose that caused a human death was 3200mg.

When someone out there dies off an eighth ounce of weed then I might consider them similar.

I agree with PazVerdeRadical... I have tried mushrooms also but for me Cannabis is the entheogen of choice for personal healing, inspiration and knowledge.

Peace.

A sativa is definitly a stimulant. But the effects are much different than coffee. The stimulating effects, for me personally, are nothing like coffee. But a sativa definitly makes me want to clean the shit out of my house and anything in sight. Great day smoke.

I'm am not much of a day smoker though, I prefer indicas, and I use them for sleep, and sometimes pain and headaches. I make a ritual out of smoking, and it relaxes me and calms me, loosens up my body, and allows for my mind to take a break, allowing me to finally feel tired and fall asleep.

I do enjoy a sativa once in awhile in the mix, just for a random day smoke.

Tea/coffee/cannabis, not very similar, but all contain similar effects. There is also some tea that can make you tired, same as cannabis.

What about your cannabis tea effects? I have only noticed minor relaxation, and a slight body high. I used some leafs and stuff in a coffee maker, and make myself some cannatea. That to would help for one trying to relax.

Sativa's could be used as a coffee replacement. They are just not as easy to access, due to their low yeild. Probably much more healthy as well..

I've smoked pure sativa buds... they don't stimulate me too much either.
Coffee dosen't do much to me either.

If I'm going for stimulant effects, hand me some good old amphetamines.
