I am such a space cadet anyway.....I need to have a clear when driving (yeah, right...haha) I operate the vehicle just fine....it is the whole direction thing that gets me.

I have a terrible sense of direction and I am daydreamer, so I get lost a lot. Or when traveling, I get off the interstate to get gas or whatever and get back on going north instead of south....gone like 20 miles before I realize I am heading the wrong way.

I think Miss Daisy needs a driver....hahahahaha

Well... the person who say that driving high and driving drunk (like my mother) is the same thing... they are so out of the track. In the last 2years... me and at least 4 or 5 of my close friend never got into a car accident because of their "highness". When I'm high... I think I drive exactly as if I wasn't high and sometimes I am more prudent. I check around a lot more when high thought. I think that I'm like POMH. The only negative effect in my driving skills is my senses of orientations :p

I think that weed is dangerous while driving with new MJ users. This can be very dangerous while they don't know themselves while high. But man... when you smoke every day and drive every day while high... ppl who say that it is the same thing that driving drunk need to shut up.

I was down at sun sims and we were riding to a place and were smoking on the way there and we had this discussion. Driving while smoking or high isnt better or worse than driving while sober . And actually cuz you are breaking the law ( smoking while driving ) you are actually more cautious than you would be while sober and nothing on you. So i think driving while high is better. I havent driven not high in many many years. I have never been in an accident ( i got in one on purpose, i hit a lady that double parked behind me) so i dontthink driving high is bad

Thats a very nice point you got there... and so true at the same time... you don't want to be pulled over so you watch for every of your movement.

2002-01-15 : Idaho OKs Marijuana With Driving
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - In Idaho, you can drive high as long as you can drive straight.

Marijuana users can drive legally in the state as long as their driving isn't erratic and they can pass a field sobriety test, a federal appeals court ruled Monday. The three-judge panel of the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals (news - web sites) wrote that while it is illegal to drive under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, Idaho law doesn't list marijuana as a narcotic.

The ruling overturned an impaired driving conviction against Matthew Patzer, 21, who was stopped for a broken tailgate light in 1998 and admitted to police he'd smoked marijuana at a party. The appeals court said Patzer could not automatically be presumed impaired; he wasn't driving erratically and passed two field sobriety tests.

``Given the distinction drawn by the statute, there is no basis to conclude that impairment may be presumed upon admission of use of a non-narcotic drug,'' the appeals court wrote.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Fica in Idaho said the government may ask the court to review its decision or request that the U.S. Supreme Court (news - web sites) hear the case.

Idaho Senate Judiciary Chairman Denton Darrington said he had assumed marijuana was a narcotic under state law, and that the statute might need to be reviewed. But he questioned whether Monday's decision would hold up on appeal.

The circuit's decision also reverses Patzer's illegal weapons convictions.

In his Chevrolet Blazer, police found four illegal homemade grenades, a sawed-off shotgun and a modified rifle with a homemade silencer. But the court said that because of his unlawful arrest, the search of his vehicle was illegal.

The case is United States v. Patzer, 00-30360.

Marijuana and Driving: A Review of the Scientific Evidence

It is well established that alcohol increases accident risk. Evidence of marijuana’s culpability in on-road driving accidents is much less convincing.

Although cannabis intoxication has been shown to mildly impair psychomotor skills, this impairment does not appear to be severe or long lasting. In driving simulator tests, this impairment is typically manifested by subjects decreasing their driving speed and requiring greater time to respond to emergency situations.

Nevertheless, this impairment does not appear to play a significant role in on-road traffic accidents. A 2002 review of seven separate studies involving 7,934 drivers reported, “Crash culpability studies have failed to demonstrate that drivers with cannabinoids in the blood are significantly more likely than drug-free drivers to be culpable in road crashes.” This result is likely because subject under the influence of marijuana are aware of their impairment and compensate for it accordingly, such as by slowing down and by focusing their attention when they know a response will be required. This reaction is just the opposite of that exhibited by drivers under the influence of alcohol, who tend to drive in a more risky manner proportional to their intoxication.

Today, a large body of research exists exploring the impact of marijuana on psychomotor skills and actual driving performance. This research consists of driving simulator studies, on-road performance studies, crash culpability studies, and summary reviews of the existing evidence. To date, the result of this research is fairly consistent: Marijuana has a measurable yet relatively mild effect on psychomotor skills, yet it does not appear to play a significant role in vehicle crashes, particularly when compared to alcohol. Below is a summary of some of the existing data.

I like to drive while I'm high...no better place to crank up the tunes and rock out...but sometimes I stop at green lights. I hate that.

No matter how well you think you can drive stoned, driving under the influence of anything is a bad idea.

You have considerably less rights in your vehicle where LEO is concerned. Why put yourself in any kind of danger?

I think any test you do twice you will do good the second time around haha!

I like how he said it feels like he was driving a lot slower

I only driven a few times while still feeling the effects of smoking. I've been told by cops pulling me over that I drive like an ass hole, I dont when on pot lol I just relax and let other people be idiots and do stupid stuff (driving in two lanes at once) and laugh. I've been pulled over stoned once but it was for a registration renewal thing and he couldent notice.. and dont smoke in your car thats just dumb.

I'm with you deft. I drive like an asshole when I'm not high. Always riding people's asses if they're going under the speed limit, or even not fast enough for my liking (seems everyone around my area SUCKS at driving too). When I'm high and driving though I'll just chill out and sometimes even go the speed limit. lol.

I've also found being high in bad traffic to be really calming. Usually I'd be flipping out the entire ride to school because of all the traffic. When I started smoking before I left the house I noticed I was a lot calmer and traffic didn't seem nearly as bad.

One thing though is that you have to consider how mj effects you and how good a driver you are. I'd consider myself a good driver and don't feel totally overwhelmed by mj. Some people I would never step into a car with them driving if they had just smoked...then again there are some people I'd refuse to drive with when they're sober!

I remember I had a friend who used to freak out all the time when driving stoned hahaha he was the only one of us in highschool who had got their license so it was always left for him to chauffer us around. He used freak out and say he couldnt feel his legs and just end up rolling until the car stopped and then we'd have to talk him through it and get going again.....good times

well i drive with road rage, so when i smoke and drive i chill the fuck out and actually drive the speed limit. but im also a better than average driver so i cant speak for these people who dont know how to drive.. ok im just going to stop myself before i start hating on other drivers..

but yeah man, if you're a newbie smoker, stay away from the car..
