I asked Rsc about Manipuri on march and Angus said they may bring it back later this year. Big emphasis on the word maybe were his exact words. So there is hope.

Manipuri and Ukhrul are at the top of my list for strains to get so im really keeping my thumbs up for making em available. Rather sooner than later. :)

Yeah someone from Spain is currently reproducing those for him this season... he recently reproduced the Nepalese Mileche and did a great job btw.

Thanks for the info Mustafunk, music to my ears. I guess we're lucky then to have these Spanish saviors doing repro's and helping getting these gems out again. Credit to him whoever it is.

Hi -

Everything going to plan, we'll have seeds direct from Manipur by March 2020

Plus a whole range of Nepali offerings too

The good question for me is this: between Manipuri and Ukhrul, what is the most valuable strain, one where one finds sexually stable individuals, with interesting, vigorous effect, etc ?

(I have not read enough comparisons of grow reports to conclude effectively ..)

With regards to sexually stable individuals:

Simple answer- it depends on the male plant that produced each seed you receive and your environmental conditions.

Longer answer-Regarding Manipuri, the first generation I grew out had 2 females, both sexually stable. Second generation had quite a few hermis. I'm pretty sure it's because of the male manipuri plant because even a hybrid using the same male yielded hermi male plants.

I haven't yet come across a genetically diverse landrace sativa population that doesn't have hermi genes expressed outdoors here in the Pacific Northwest: every landrace I've tried has shown it eventually if not on the first run. However, you'll certainly get some individuals that don't show hermi traits ever. This is likely because the trait hasn't yet been selected against, since it reportedly doesn't show up in their region of origin.

One hypothesis is that if you're at a different latitude and environment than the region of origin for these landraces, the differing photoperiod/weather could be the trigger for hermi trait expression.

Long story short, don't let sexually unstable traits turn you off, manipuri is still very much worth trying out and experiencing if you can finish them outdoors. Most of the hermi expressions with these landraces are very controllable (ie. a few balls before flowering that can easily be removed, or very late bananas show up a week or so before harvest). Even if the late bananas give off pollen, all other plants have already been harvested, and there's not enough time for seeds to develop.

Manipuri is the superior strain in terms of effect, aroma etc. It's a match for a good Thai, Lao, or Achenese strain

Farmers there know to eradicate hermaphrodite plants too. That doesn't guarantee you won't see hermies if you grow it, particularly if it's in condtions that are radically different from Manipur.

The Manipuri is closer in character to the Mango Thai, rather than the Highland Thai.

Collecting in Nepal hasn't started yet, so nothing to share yet, sorry.
