I've noticed there's not much info about this strain anywhere on the interwebs. I thought i might share my experience with this strain
I grew Ganesh for the first time back in 2013. Back then I was looking for buds with indica structure and sativa-ish high. Mandala offered this strain, which promised a lot. Grew 5 plants, 3 were female and were kept, the other two turned out to be males and were discarded. My grow setup was indoors under a tight budget, using CFL/LED bulbs. Vegged for 4 weeks, Flowering took around 65 days.
In the end of flowering the females were short abd bushy, around 70cm tall, with a christmas tree pattern and a decent top cola. Pheno was consistent between the three plants. They had an intense smell of coffee which was very unique and pleasant! Rubbing the stems left an earthy smell on the fingers like when it rains for the first time in months. Never had weed which smelled so good.
Smoke report:
Appearence:
Resin production was very satisfactory given the low light intensity and Ganesh girls proved to be easy to manicure. At the end of curing, buds looked like tiny balls of orange, white and green happiness! 9/10
Smell:
I don't know if it was my fault over a bad cure, but the plant's smell somehow faded away through the cure. After a month period they smelled like wet earth mixed with old underwear... very disapointing... 2/10
Taste:
Also bad but not as much as smell. Vibrant and spicey in the tongue when not cured, turned out to be a bit weird in the late stages of curing. Again this might have been my fault during the cure process. The smoke was dense but very smooth. No coughing, even with microwaved buds. 5/10
High:
- Smoking small quantities produced a light headed, clear mind, happy-go-lucky sativa high which lasted for about two hours. 7/10
- Smoking moderate to large quantities produced a potent indica-dominant high, couchlocking, numbing and introspective. It made me feel very warm and cozy, as if someone had put my brain on a jacuzi. The high lasted for several hours, and the next day I would still feel "different". 8/10
Overall:
I wanted to grow Ganesh because of its sativaish high. In the end it all came down to how much I would to smoke. Small amounts provided me with energy for small daytime activities like jogging or videogames. However, because Ganesh was such a creeper, it was very easy to smoke too much and become lost on a indica couchlock by accident. 7/10
Would I grow again?: Yes, but only to get the indica effect. Ganesh has interesting properties: it is potent, develops well under low light and has the typical endurance of Mandala seeds. I absolutely loved the smell the plants had in the last two weeks of flowering - the whole room smelled like freshly brewed coffee.
