Male sacks showing very early???

I am growing some Deep Chunk outside in NorCal and the males are already showing sacks on the top new growth. One of them even busted open already. Never seen this so early before, any idea what's up? They maybe just started to show bananas 2 days ago and the females have hardly detectable pistols. Plants are only 6 weeks old and less than a foot tall.
I actually wanted to collect some of the pollen but wondering if they will have a second round during actual flower??

How much shade do they get during the day? Having extra shade hours can definitely speed up flowering response.

All of my fast males start to do it around this time every year. I’ve had one purple satellite male I had to pull sacks off of after seeing 1 had opened and skeeted already.

So if mine are doing that, should I collect the pollen now or do you think he will dump a bunch more in a month or so?

He’ll keep dumping but I always collect mine early and store it so I can cull the male before females start flowering heavily and I can then selectively pollinate a few branches only and label things.

Huge fan of pollen from the freezer. ;) Great to have that pollen from 10+ years ago (or last month) instantly on hand and ready to go. :)
