Male Pollen Viability

How long will male pollen stay viable in a sealed container keep at 38 degrees?

I have some that's 26mo. and doesn't seem to be potent anymore.... There's a few burnt pistols where I applied the pollen, but no evidence of a seed maturing. Bummer

There's possibly a few seeds, but not as many as expected....

I broke open what I thought was a pollinated calyx and found a undeveloped seed pod. I guess old pollen doesn't work after all.
