What's new

Malawi

There didn't seem to be a general Malawi thread here in ACE, and having some questions I thought I'd make one. Been doing some digging with search but it only goes so far. Just looking to build some general information on the strain. How stable is it in regards to the variety of phenotypes? What's its yield like as a full sativa? What're the typical flavours/scents and are there any rare phenos associated with this line? What's the flowering time like?

The claim of a 4 hour duration is quite appealing. The effects sound so much stronger than other sativas - it makes me wonder if we should classify African sativas differently. Genetically speaking there's no reason, but from the Cannoisseurs position the difference between an African and Mexican sativa seems large. Enough armchair scholastics from me though. Let's talk about Malawi!

From my own experience. I had three females they all looked the same, tall about 10 feet grown in grown. Thin long leafs, lots of branching, the smell was very floral, like nothing i had ever smelled before. The high was very long and all in the head, good for thinking. As for the flavour it was bitter, like old almonds. Out of three plants i got about 11/2 pounds had to pick them about 3weeks early around the end of the first of november long flowering time. Hope this helps

Welcome MrSterling and Malawiman,

Our malawi has been bred towards the killer malawi mum, there are some colorful more robust phenos that are quite rare to find, especially in the standard format, but generally the line is very vigorous and sativa, with strong branching. Yield is real good with long veg times, especially outdoors in warm climates. Flowering time is usually between 11-13 weeks, depending on the individual, plant size, plant age, growing conditions etc, your maturation preferences ... The aromas are lemonly oily, usually quite agressive and pungent. High is super strong and long lasting, for both mind and body, a cannabis experience of the highest order, very few inbred lines have the potential to produce such powerful plants. Best wishes!

Dubi, thanks for the informative post. While I have you, what's the connection between you guys and CBG? Do you share some of the same breeders?

ACE Seeds and Cannabiogen have been breeding together and sharing genetics, projects, strains ... not so much lately but since the very early beginning of ACE Seeds (2005).

Hello longearedfriend,

It depends if you are growing indoors or outdoors. I'd recommend you to chech the Growing Tips of the strain at our website:

http://www.aceseeds.org/goldentigerregeng.php

Indoors net scrog style -> very nice strain, vigorous branching and positive reaction to pruning, longer veg times.

Indoor SOG style -> From seed usually just 20 days is enough, from clones almost after rooting.

Outdoors -> the bigger the better :)

thanks ^^ !

I have approx 8-9 ft tall of indoor space maybe more

as for space, that is not a problem

how tall could I expect them to get after 20 days veg and 14 wk of flowering ?

Got 6 fem seeds gonna be running under a 600 watt

do these require some very strong light ?

I dunno much about sativas

Hello longearedfriend,

I stimate they will finish with aprox 1.5 meter height. They love the light, so the more the better! Good luck!
