I'm currently looking for a keeper male form the Malawi line. So far I have two phenos, one with long internodes and good over all structure and one with shorter internodes and a bit wider leaf. Dubi, or others, is there anything I should look out for with regards to structure, smells, etc.?
I'm glad to know you want to use the malawi for your own breeding projects!
The taller is a lanky long flowering malawi expression, the smaller with wider leaf are usually faster to flower and produce denser flowers, both are interesting depending on your breeding goals. Use the most vigorous, resinous males with strong desirable aromas and higher flower and pollen production, and avoid the ones with low smell or low quality aromas, low resin production or low vigour, and of course any intersexed plant. It's good to stress the males you want to breed with to check if they have any hermie trait hidden, although malawi line is very firm in sex.
Thank you for your guidance Dubi. And thank you for releasing such beautiful plants to the cannabis world! I look forward to trying more of your offerings in the near future. I will update what I find and I'm sure I will have more questions.
