Malawi Fem Vigour

Hi ACE friends.

I have 2 fem Malawis outside alongside with some other Ace and Bodhi plants all from seed. I ecpected Malawi to be the most vigourus of all but they're the least. I don't care so much about their final size or yield but the problem is they are getting outshaded by the other plant because I have 2 plants in the hole. unfortunatly I didn't plant them together because the other Malawi was a replaement for a plant which turned out to be male.

so my question is can I expect the Malawi to explode in growth as I remember I read it is a late starter. or it just can't compete with F1 vigour from companion plant? I also have Malawi Pck and Zamal Hash which are growing very well. is there anything what you would suggest to me to improve the Malawi growth?

thanks.

I have 5 Malawis from seed going. 1 runt, 1 of shorter height and node spacing (3.5' tall) and 3 that are huge 6.5' tall and wide some of best plants in the garden. How many seeds of Malawi did u pop?

I have zamal hash going too, 3 in garden all doing well about 5' tall/wide but less vigorous than my 3 best Malawis

My pure PCK is 7' wide 6' tall bushiest plant in garden so it doesn't need to be an F1 to be vigorous from Ace or Cannabiogen. But it definitely still requires growing 2 times the amount of seeds you need and choosing the best if you want consistent vigour ime.

If it's not going at this point chances are it won't take off.

if I remember correct isn't the purple Malawi less vigorous than the other Malawi's. how long have they been out? I have 2 Malawi fem I thought were a little slow but they have jumped another 2 ft. in two weeks for a total of 5 ' x 5' diam.( topped ) I just looked at the breeders pack I have. the purple says more compact my bad. mountzion and claude are the ones that would be correct

Hi Tiami,

Malawi is overall a line that has been bred mainly for vigour, yield, resin production and potency.
As many growers have experienced here, Malawi is usually a very vigorous plant when grown under the correct growing conditions.

Lately Malawi is more inbred, so there are higher chances to find not so vigorous individuals, although most of the plants still keep her great original vigour. And what is more important, i prefer the quality of the latest generations over the first ones.

What was the packing date of your malawi fem pack ?
If you share a pic maybe we can find any possible problem and provide recommendations to improve their growth.

I'm glad the Zamal Hash and Malawi x PCK are performing well, they are very vigorous, true F1s.

ace Malawi vigor in hybrids is exceptional from my personal grow experiences. the ace Malawi is pretty dominate in those crosses. I like the potential of ace Malawi in hybrids 'cause you get the ace Malawi benefits plus additional desired attributes. I like the frosty killer mum pheno as a top shelf keeper breeder.

old skool breeders had a term for the best synergy parents of hybrids; sport. synergy is 1+1=3. there is no doubt in my mind and from the numerous grow reports that also affirm ace's Malawi is a true sport. she can be just fucking awesome in hybrids. imo that's her best attribute; hybrid potential.

"Sport : a naturally occurring variant of a species, not usually present in a population or group of plants; a plant that has spontaneously mutated so that it differs from its parent plant."

Respectfully, it is my understanding that this is the correct definition.

you can take just about any word/term and get different implications and different inferences.

when I use the term sport i'm referring to old skool, lay usage.

there are those that want us to refer to landrace sativas as hemp. i'm not going there.

I do use the terms nld and wld now in appropriate conversations.. I don't object to their connotations. try talking to some ppl using wld instead of indica and watch the look on their face. :)
