making jerky and dehydrating stuff

I have had 2 dehydrators in my time. a homemade one and a cheap round one ...looking for another cheap dehydrator..prob ronco about 36$...anyone else have a ronco?????.. there seems to be a few models some seem to be geared to jerky ,but all appear the same basically...with the price of jerky I am gonna attempt to make my own again ,but I also want to dry my tomatoes and some stuff for backpacking,camping, and just easy to store dried stuff...yeehaw... edit,, I would really like one where I could shut off heat but still run fan ..my last 2 I could do that ..not a deal breaker with the ronco as it is low wattage anyhow

Never had dehydrated homemade jerky, but deer jerky in a smoker is pretty killer. The only way I'll eat deer.

ya I got access to a brinkman smoker and use it occasionally... I want to dry some of my vegetable garden mainly tomatoes..yeehaw...looking at jerky recipes and kits now...I will eat deer any way.. my last one was damn tasty ,never got to make any jerky with it tho

too hot for oven..i shut it off, even pilot light...grill time of year ..oven in winter....yeehaw... ^^^^ I would crack the door and dry weed in mine too..gaffers and satler old timey stove...

I used to subscribe to mother...solar are nice but take space and buying aint cheap..around 300... it gets to 115 here and I will make a small screened tent for my roof..or buy if find right one cheap..yeehaw..

my neighbor is old grumpy and has a shotgun...lol.. well he aint grumpy to me as I get him stoned and we go kayaking... but he does have a shotgun handy by door....yeehaw..people here shoot first and ask questions latr..theres too many bears rummaging thru peeps yards..gunshots are common here for one reason or another

Old glass, some wood, some screen...black poly.....you can put it anywhere, andwhen your done.....Recycle it, keep the screens and poly.

I mainly want it for jerky and overflow of tomatoes...the flavor gets intense on the maters when dried...and jerky cost big$$$$... theres a place right by me that makes it.1 oz =$5.50.or 88$ lb they got all kinds .yeehaw
