making grow cab locks not visable?

i'm looking for suggestions, ideas, or pics of what you have that locks your grow cabinets

long story short i started a mills pride cab back in the OG days, never got it running cause stupid me decided to get marry. now i'm getting a divorce, so it's time to finish what i started. but now it has to be stealth, i just can't have a padlock hanging off of it.

so what clever ways are there to lock a grow cab without it being obivous?

pictures of your set-up would be great.

thanks

Joey Roastbeef ,only got normal locks on mine but one thing that comes to mind would be window locks not 100% stealth but its a start.

hope this helps..

Something I've thought of before is making the handles to open the doors of the cab screw into the cab when its closed. That's only an option if the handles have something to screw into behind the door. It may not be locked, but noone would think to unscrew the handle.

I have never done it, but just had the idea of using one of those earth magnets (really strong but not big). Then on the inside of the cab, have eye screws with a piece of say rebar through them, that slides into the side of the cab. then you just use the magnet on the outside of the cab to move the rebar on the inside.

over the weekend i was thinking of almost the same thing. the only thing is i'm looking into ways of re-enforcing the doors so there's plent of material to attach too. that way a quick yank won't open it, since the cab is made of particle board.

~Curly~ looks like you peiced that setup yourself. any more info would be great. the only thing i see using that myself would be my cab has 2 doors and a shelf in the middle. but please more info would be great, i'm considering all options right now.

~kaljukajakas~ that remote control setup is very tempting since i can be very lazy. but knowing me i'll lose the remote and have to rip doors off the cab.

~mrbiggs~ i will look in to those window locks the next chance i to go to the hardware store.

~messn'n'gommin'~ thank for the links, i haven't had the chance to go through all the pages in the links, but i will.

~freeradical~ clever idea. i'll have to look into that if my plans for the sliding rebar by magnet doesn't pan out.

Thanks again everyone, please keep the suggestions and pics of how you lock up your cab coming. the more the merrier.

:joint: smoke it if you got it

I guess one of the simplest ways to do it would be to take a say 2" by 8" piece of steel plate and cut a slot in one end and drill a hole in the other, 2" from the end. Then fix it inside one of your doors using a sturdy screw through the hole you drilled. Put another sturdy screw in the other door so the slot in the latch catches on it as it rotates. The latch would of course be in the middle of the door, with the screws about 2" from where the doors meet.

When the latch is caught behind the other screw the doors cannot be pulled open, but slide a credit card, metal ruler or something between the doors to raise the latch and the doors will open. To close the door, you'd hold the latch up until you push the doors closed so the slot is aligned with the screw and then push the latch down with the credit card.
