Making Cannabutter

Hey all I was just making some cannabutter and I thought I might post some pics. I use a pressure cooker and cook the butter in canning jars with plant material for no more than 30min, and I cool the pressure cooker in a bathtub with cold water. I know watching the icmag dvd, the same video where they go to eddy lepps farm in cali, that the med patient cooking cannabutter and weed oil boils his jars for 12 hours and that is probabely the right way, I am not so patient and have been very satisfied in the past with just pressure cooking it. but I also stole his Idea and strained and double cooked my butter to make it more potent. The smell is awsome, great to use any plant material, if using stems cut into 2in or smaller sections, I like my material extra dry but that is up to you. You can use this butter for anything but I think they make killer brownies. here are some pics. let me know what you think.

I dont recomend pressure cooking oil in the same manner, you will end up with a deep fried affect because the pressure cooker gets so hot. Here is finished product, all made from NL female Xline plants trim.

hey, i just made my first batch of cannabutter . i have to say that i just dont like the smell and the taste . too weird for me . any suggestions on improving the flavour or different uses ? i have just been putting it on toast and crackers .

yeah I dont really like it strait, i love making brownies with it though it covers a lot of the taste. Just substitute the oil in the brownies recipie with the cannabutter and you wont be dissapointed

If you really like edibles, try water curing.

Water curing removes the taste and aroma, which is why many people dislike water curing for smoke. However, using water cured bud to make edibles is great! No nasty taste :D

the brownies worked beautifully , by the by . the flavour of the cannabutter seems to go very well with chocolate, and stone is slow to hit, mellow and long- lasting
i have enough cannabudder left to make another batch of brownies . will the butter freeze well, or should i use it up asap and freeze the cooked brownies ?

i preferr a double boiler or crockpot. soaking the weed in cool water and changing it a few times helps melow out the final product. change water till it stays clear than make the butter.
 
can i make canna butter with my left over trim i made ice hash with? i have a shitload and plan on doing an iso extraction of it all then making hte butter with that...
any input
 
I just cut down a few males and am curious if i can make cannabutter out of them...? i guess it depends on trich's...? not sure

yes im sure you can use males, or use ice hash bud but dont expect it to taste very good. if you are looking for great taste just use strait buds. happy halloween!

Just chiming in to say that I cook the butter in an open casserole for around 40mn (electricity is not free) and it comes out very potent, in line with the amount of shake and trim invested in the process.

Until now i threw away all thos little bits of stems that i don't put in the joints, and lot of leaves and bigger stems... when keeping all of that and cooking with it is so :woohoo:

weed enjoyer: I wouldn't make butter of an already used material, I'm not sure but I iamgine that it won't taste nice and not be very potent, ie a loss of time.

BluEBLaZeS: why not putting males in it if you think that they have THC in them, but it's maybe not a recipe for excellent butter.
