mail redelivery- odd or not?

I get seed catalogs (vegetable) at my home, as well as magazines. I get large Apple catalogs regularly. It is rare but regular for me to get mail from overseas. Now all of a sudden, I keep getting these redelivery notices. Ok I got them twice. First time was before Thanksgiving, and that was registered mail when I was not expecting registered mail. So that turned out ok and may be expected. The other time, the envelope was not large and I have no reason to believe this one will be either. Both times, "large envelope, magazine, catalog, etc" was circled on the pink form 3849. That first envelope was a bubble envelope as this one probably is, the only other thing they have in common is a tracking code (if it is the mail I am thinking it is). So this requires a trip to the post office and dealing with someone in person, which increases the chances of something going wrong. I will resist the urge to say : hey I get bigger things than this! Why can't you just put it in the box? (btw why don't quote marks work here anymore?) I am just worried if they ask something and I look suspicious, or if this whole procedure seems a little fishy. Like I said, they have always delivered mail of any size before, and even hung things from the mailbox in plastic bags (even a computer external drive once!). Any advice please?

36 views and no replies? common guys, someone must have experience with this. I am hoping someone says this is standard procedure for mail with a tracking code and nothing to worry about.

how freindly are you with your delivery person... why not just ask him, or call the post office and ask them who the sender is - or if your real worried then refuse the dilivery.
maybe your regular delivery person on vacation and the new guy doesent know whats up.
me' id call-m.

registered mail needs to have a signature before they can give it to you. Some people request that when they ship you stuff so they know you got it.

problem solved, I think. What I neglected to mention is that it says Air Sure under sender. I look it up and it is insured mail. You probably have to sign for that. thanks for the help though.

edit: it is a priority mail option, not an insured mail thing like I thought. And it did not involve that anyway. It was all because of someone new or filling in not knowing wtf she was doing. She thought it needed a sig, but it didn't and she just handed it to me apologizing several times. Now I am getting my nieghbor's mail often, I hope they don't give my mail to them! :D

That, or it is the holiday seasons, meaning your mail was supposed to arrive days earlier but got lost in the confusion. But most likely its because they need a signature
