:yoinks: Is this a magnesium deficiency?

They're about a week into flower, and this just started to show up. I'm using 1 tsp FoxFarm GrowBig, 1tsp TigerBloom, 1/4 Tsp epsom salts per gal.

I just watered 2days ago (about when it startedd to show up), so should i water again with some epsom right away or wait awhile?

hey penguin, It's summer time did your girls get very hot during the day by chance? When you mix in your epsom to your mix are you disolving it in hot water first? And of course the usual water temps? ph?

hehe, I live in texas, it's always hot...
now I have another fan, hopefully that should help.

as for the epsom salts i haven't been dissolving them in hot water first, just a good shake with a lukewarm gallon, but i will try that from now on.

Can I water with cold water to help them deal with the heat or will that shock the roots?

It's getting worse fast though, the lower fan leaves are yellow and droopy now. Is there anything immediate i can do?

Check out the new growth for color. Always water by the weight of the pot weigh one with fresh non watered soil to get a good feel for what your plant shoul weigh when it has no water just the plant the pot and the soil. Hell man I'm a newby to but have spent thousands of hours reading and reading some more and only can share what I have done over the past to deal with sick baby issues. I killed many a plant early on I'll admit that but at first I over watered and mother henned them to DEATH. The weight thing worked for me in the end. These plants we grow are millions of years old,If they have not figured out what to do to live by now they never will but we must give them that chance first. And yes epsom salt must be dissolved in hot water to break down the crystals so that it may mix properly with the water but I suggest using Cal Mag instead. My 2 Cents.

looks like mag def... the viens are still green while in between is yellow classic mag def... i always put a whole tsp/gal of epson salt everyother water/feeding and i've never dissolved it, just a good shake. never experienced true mag def. i use epson to controll my ph (bring it down)

and don't use cold water it will shock the roots. if you drink gatoraid (or any drink that comes in gallon jugs) save the gallon jugs and store up a surplus of water. that way you will always have a supply of room temp water. leave the top off for a few days or just a day so that the clorine will evaporate off.

clorine and calcium (hard water) can also lockup mag so if you've been watering strait out of the tap this could be the problem

ahh, the last watering was out of the tap, usually i go with filtered water, but i was lazy this time

What kind of filter? a filter containing salts may cause more damage than do good.

Unless you are in a country that has cloera in the water system then i say all soil growers must use fresh water... The plants really need these fresh bacteria! if you dont use fresh water then you must introduce benifical bacteria once a month.

Reverse Osmosis (whatever the hell that really means) from the one of those by-the-gallon vending machines

what do you mean by "fresh", like rainwater or from a stream? or is the stuff at the store that says "natural spring water" OK? also, i'm using non-nutritive soil, that make a difference?

Efective micro organisims.....and it is called EM...you can find it at the garden stores....spendy but VERY GOOD STUFF...you can also take a sip of it urself...like a table spoon....taste kind of like a weird BBQ SAUCE...lol
good for digestion and stomach virus...plants thrive off it..

1 tbls EM AND 1 TBLS MOLASIS...i one gallon...once a week...

i also use SPIRALINA bocoshy....

Benifical bacteria can be founf at places the sell pond/garden equipment...

Valueless soil is very different from normal soil, and yes this is a big difference!

When i say fresh water i mean straight from the tap, cold as can be...

..i was wonderin :chin: about what kind of "fresh water " you meant too doc..thanx,
all my water comes right out the tap, but i let it stand overnight to get rid of any chlorine.. i then add the nutes just before watering, and give the water a good vigorous stirring to generate some O2..

a pure form of Fosfar like the chemist gets... but it dont react to well to water, can spray you in the face or chest and that really hurts, if you do get burned with fosfar or a fosphate then use coco milk directly on the wound.

what is ur PH?

Finally, 17 replies and someone asks the 64,000 dollar question. Your Mg could be just fine and the ph is off enough to lock it out. Also that kind of yellow can be from an iron def too.
