I've been plagued by long distance bills forever, always near or just above my providers 'Unlimited long distance' package @ $35.00 monthly which I've resisted buying into.
After buying my new computer I finally sprung for a magicJack module and am extremely pleased with it so far, not for nothin' but I'm the kinda guy that can easily find fault with something.
I turned down all the offers that were prompted upon installation such as a personal 'vanity' number (extra yrs, Intl calling etc...) instead opting for a local exchange available, the cost of the unit including the 1st years service was $39.95, subsequent yrs are $19.95 for 1 or $69.95 for 5 years, plus they warranty the device for the term of your service, if it fries or even if your dog destroys it they'll replace it for free.
Once activated you can dial your phone any one of 3 ways, normally via the keypad, by mouse/cursor in the on-screen display or by your computers keyboard. Sound quality is flawless, I can't detect a single glitch, hiccup or any fluctuations at all.
International calling plan was .02 per minute I believe but I can call any magicJack number worldwide for free from mine as is.
Unless I've missed the hidden ogre I have to recommend this to anyone tired of paying into the system.
and now with no reason to complain & unlimited long distance I oddly enough find myself at a loss for words.......
