I just got a new camera, canon XTi with a sigma 17-70 macro lense so I thought id give it a try.
I am still learning the camera and lense and macro photography so any input is greatly appreciated.
i cant really use a background yet, or a tripod because the box is fairly confined. I found that shooting in RAW then converting makes much sharper pics. im completely new to the whole digital thing.
I will definately do some more careful work once I have some chopped.
Pineappa...your getting the hang of things! My images...most macros, are with the same Sigma 17-70 macro...you can look through them but they are not marked as to which ones are the Sigma shots. I am please with this lens but am contemplating a Canon MP-E to get even closer. When you harvest is picture time...keep up the good work, Dr. Duck.
hey duck, glad to hear someone else is using that lense. i have heard about problems with close focusing on certain focal lengths. so far, mine seem to be pretty damn sharp. i might pick up a 50mm prime 1.8 for fun, and test it vs that, and test it vs a D50 with kit lense.
so this is my 3rd round with the lense, i increased the iso to 200, and in raw post processing I used custom color temp to 3k, increase sharpness and some contrast.
the unknown P and morningstar are in the most convenient locations.
thanks for the props. i really want a real deal macro lense that is true 1:1. i really love macro photography, not just of bud, but almost anything. my favorite art photography i did was macro shots of a weird puddle. ill put them up in the gallery. i like the endless potential for the abstract in macro land.
