macro shots?

Ok, I have a digi canon rebel with 2 different lenses, but can't get macro shot out of them. Do i need a specific lens for the macro shot or is there a button i can press on this supid friggin camera to get it to take pics of my trichs.:wave:

There is a macro mode to use to allow the camera to automatically focus "close-up", which is the picture of the flower on the dial, but with SLR cameras if you are going to be investing a bit of your time taking close up pictures you should invest in an actual macro lens. That camera can use over 50 EF lenses, and there are a few macro lenses in that collection that you would really enjoy :)

i too have this camera ,too get the best macro u need a 50 or 100 mm f/2.5 - f3.5 macro lens on a tripod with plenty of backlight or a macro flash.alternatively u can buy a 4 x close up filter that just screws on your lens .i have seen the 100 mm lens and it will focus on the detail on your iris , that be close enough for trichome photography
this is the closet ive got with the standard 18-55 on macro settingno tripod used though

I've heard that the shots you can get with that camera using the 50mm macro lens are practically hallucinatory (from tomshardware.com actually).
