Hello mates.
What makes the weed have what I call the lung expansion, when you blow and the smoke seem to expand in your mouth..
This depends on indica/sativa? or it depends on strain? or eaven the curing?
All the best
(sorry for my english)

This expansion thing is something I've wondered about for years. The phenomenon varies from strain to strain. It can be phenotype, strain, cure, flush, nutes, etc.

I actually think that the smoke doesn't really expand in your lungs. You're just taking in more than your lungs can allow. It's like you don't feel a throat burn, so you don't really think you're taking in too much till- pow, your lungs reject and expel it.

Cannabis is a known expectorant, and some bud has more of that effect than others. When I "cough out" bad it clears out the mucus in my lungs. Anyone have any ideas about this? -granger

cannabis is also a bronchial dilator. so i would say that, coupled with the expectorant effects, is your "lung expansion."

When is it that you "cough out"? While you are smoking or after? With myself, I rarely cough out anything while having a session, it is usually after about 7-10 days of not smoking. I tend to binge (but not smoking the amounts that some people here may smoke) and when my tolerance is too high I take a break. I find a good expectorant is full fat milk! Sorry to those that have to go with low fat options for health reasons, but I think the fat in the milk catches the nasty stuff pretty good.

Having rambled that out though, we gotta keep in mind that the same strain will affect different people in different ways.

I cough out when I take a hit that is too big. Problem is that it doesn't seem to be that much until it's too late. Then I have a bad coughing spell, often losing the hit or part of it. When done, my lungs are clear.

BTW, people involved in nutrition have long said that cow dairy is "mucous forming." -granger
