lumii 600w switchable ballast problem

I have a lumii 600w ballast that is switchablke between 400w/600w/660w. I am currently in veg and running it at 400w. Temps are 79f with it at 400w.

For the last two days i have come home (lights come on while im at work) and it has been at the 660w setting.

Has anyone had this before?

any ideas why it is happening? how to stop it?

Don't know the ballast, but it figures out the right wattage to run on its own?

If so, either that circuit in the ballast is getting wonky, or more likely, it doesn't like your bulb. May just be because the bulb is old.

Buy a new bulb and see how that works. Even if that's not the problem, it's not a waste of money.

It is selectable via a button. The bulb is new. Weird thing is today (day off) its come on at 400w setting. :dance013:

I'll see how it goes over the next few days. Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like a multi-tap ballast for wattage Which I have never seen,I have only seen voltage multi- taps.I would look on the inside and make sure the wires from the buttons are connected to the right taps.It sounds like all your taps may be connected to one button or two, they should all be separated and going to the correct wattage leads

WTF. It's very odd it would change settings on you. Might be worth contacting the manufacturer.

It's becoming not that uncommon for digital ballasts to have different bulb settings. I just bought one made by Xtrasun that runs 250/400/430/600/600"boost". It's a lot more useful than a dimmer (so better than useless, in my opinion).

I actually have a old GE hps spotlight/ghetto growlight with multi-tap for voltage that is switchable between 250 and 400watt. It has 2 output taps and a split capacitor. Moving a connector let's you switch between the wattages.

Is it the lumii digita 600w ballast by any chance?

They are known to be faulty and also even when running normally do not output 600w .... Check old hydromag digital ballast reviews

Basically you need a new ballast but I do wonder how the switch moves by itself?
