LR#2 Seedlings not growing

Bad news here

I have germed 4 seeds (in water for 25hrs) and 3 out of 4 cracked and the tap root showed (few mm's long) one stayed uncracked. I put them in the soil pots (around 5" round in size - I used this to great success with LR#1 seedlings). I watered them well and popped em in my room (small micro cab 2ft high, 2ft wide -ish) and covered them up, turned the lights on (they were covered so got no light) and turned the fans on.

Three days later 1 popped through in the morning. 2 days later two more popped through. Next day and still no 4th one yet.

The first is now three days old and is upright, but has not sprouted the first winged leaves (the thingy helmet (lol) has split and the first leaves are there but about 1mm in size and barely noticeable). The others are not even upright and look like crap.

The soil is All-Mix (bio-bizz) and has about 30% Perlite mixed in. The temps are around 28 degrees with lights on and 20 degrees lights out.

LR#1 at this stage looked healthy - these look so bad I want to bin them and start afresh. Any ideas on a cause for this. I have done nothing different than with my other two LR1 grows....

These are really pathetic and I wonder if I have a bad batch of seeds??

What could be the cause of this???

Thanks

How much is watering them well? You should also use a seed starter soil for the seedling stage.

I was just going to ask the same thing... Overwatering is hella common!

Hi Guys...

Thanks for the replies.

I actually only water the pots when I first drop the seeds into the soil. I then cover and leave it until they sprout and then use the 'pot lift\weight' method to test if they need water again.

I used this method to great effect with my first two grows (both LR1 - easy I know lol)

As for propergating soil - I never had an issue before with using All-Mix from seed.

Thanks again for the replies guys - I take on board what you have said.

Thanks

Sometimes you just get crappy seeds. Too old or just lame seeds.

I picked up 5 ten packs of seeds a couple months ago. I was between 80 and 90% on the 4 but the Afghani x Fucking Incredible seeds were only 30% and one was a tard that didnt make it. The other 2 are still only small little plants but they are finally healthy and making a comeback.

look at your soilbag...look what nute ratio it has ..i believe all-mix of bio bizz is is about 2.4 EC... my all mix bags of plagron are also that hot.....could be there stunned from 2 much nutes....just a thought i'm venting....not all strains act the same...:2cents:

Cheers folks,

Interesting about the soil. The All-Mix was GREAT with LR1 and was great for others I know. Perhaps I should of got some propergating soil too? I decided to actually pull one shity twig stem up today. 4 days old and it was just one 1.5" long white thing that felt like plastic and actually broke into bits when I layed it in my hand. No other start of root growth at all. Nothing. The top (what should have been oval green leaves) were hard, yellow\brown and pointing at 45 degrees.

I think, just think, that it is a mixture of too hot, no humidity and utterly dry soil (the soil dryed out just prior to them popping the surfice.

Basically I think I fucked up by NOT covering them with cling film, and by having the light on them around 4" away with the bloody fans on medium. Its also warm here for the time of year. I added water to one, and overnight it straightened up pointing upright, but has not grown or changed at all since. This is also 4 days from popping.

I have nuked them haven't I?

I have two more germing, and I will pot them up tomorrow night and do it by the book. Lets see what happens. If these do the same - I will drop the all-mix for seedlings. Also - I will only have 4 fucking seeds left from 10. I will be totaly gutted and right out of pocket.

Cheers for the input everyone!! - Really is appreciated. :D

I think I had the same prob as you, I repoted two, got the temp under control and they took off. The other three just stayed the same and started to yellow up and die.

Well two are dead - I pulled em up :(

I have started another two - potted with perfection, 1inch into the soil - tweezers dropping then in with tap root pointing down. covered and lightly watered (around 250ml per plant) I have covered with cling film and popped into the room with the fans on and the temp at around 27 degrees...Let see what happens now.

One thing that I noticed - is that the perlite content in the mixed up soil I made is nearer 45-50%. I think I fucked this up. Would too much perlite cause this problem?? I have some new soil arriving this week - so I can remix with less perlite - but for now I am stuck with what I have - it is this content (50% perlite) that the new seeds are in. I hope these dont die too.

Booh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I find that lowryder can be sortof slow starting. Sometimes when dealing with lowryder you just have to bear with it for a while...as they will have a big growth spurt later on.

Yeah - I have grown out 2 LR grows.....I have a pic of curing LR1 in my gallery.

But mate - these are actually withered and dead, its like the roots cannot feed the plant at all. I should 'up' a photo to show you because they are so weird.....

MDanzig - Hey man, thanks for the input. I know that 50% is too much - I don't know what I was thinking when I mixed it up.... :pointlaug

I will try a lot less in the mix next time .... Should re-mix this week. This does mean I have probably lost an entire batch of seeds - well at least 6 anyway :badday:

Thanks again guys

Hey, My LR's grow very slow too, I'm waiting for the "spurt" but its taking long. Good luck AD, eventually wel'll both be tokin on some LR2's. But maybe wait a little while longer to see what happens, it took a while for mine to pop and get leaves, remember, they will fight for survival.
Blessings

Hi all

Well the second batch I germed (2 of) are in as I said all done properly. 2 days in and one has popped the surface already. Sorted! It looks healthier but only the next couple of days will tell....Fingers crossed...Keep you all posted.

BTW - the second hasn't hatched yet - lets see - Not worried at all at this stage :D
