LP CO2 Burner Issues

M

milehimedi

I just setup an Autopilot CO2 burner powered by liquid propane. When the room reaches desired CO2 levels, the burner turns off, as it should. However, for 1-2 minutes after turning off there is a gassy smell coming from the burner. The smell dissipates within a couple minutes. Is this just the propane that was in the line before the solenoid valve shutoff the flow? Or should I be more concerned? All connections have been double checked for leaks with a soapy water spray.

Any input would be appreciated.

I have a green air propane burner, but no thats not normal at all. When I reach desired level it cuts out but the pilot light stays on,of course. If you have a leak near that pilot there could be problems

Well, I don't run any type of gasses in my set up but I've been in the construction trades for around 30 years and I can tell you that any scent of gas or actually the sulphur scent that they add to the gas so we can smell it is not good.

As Floridian mentioned, the pilot should remain on and the main should cut off hence all the gas in the line would be burned off by the pilot.

If you have one of these auto-electric systems where the pilot is not always on and get electronically ignited when the system starts, then there is a timing issue between valves closing and shut down..

I might not have expressed myself correctly but the fact remains is that you should not be able to smell that 'gas smell'......please have it checked out for safety sake...

Good Luck
