My first post here will be a little picture post of my lowryder babies.

My first attempt to make a nice closeup shot of my first plants.......

I know they aren't that good but practice makes perfect right?

Please give feedback and suggestions for improvement
How long do you think i need to wait until harvest?

I actually took a look with my magnifying glass and about 30-40% of the small hairs are red so I don't think harvest is more than 3-4 days away....
It is lowryder so it is ofcourse a bit different that other plants..

They was actually put into soil at jan 16 but because of bad PH and bad soil so it took some weeks for the grow to start up realtime....

i would recommend you head to radio shack, they have these little magnifying things that are perfect. i got one for under ten bucks that does 60-100x zoom and has a light built in to make trichome inspection a snap. its not essential, but i think it is a bit more accurate way to catch the perfect harvest window. i love this stage of plants, defiantely my favorite to photograph. those full swollen pistils are awesome. has anyone ever tried this smoke? i am interested in taste and stone because of the ruderalis mix, never heard much about these except that they are seed only and auto flower!

My magnifying thingy is specialy made for cannabis and has the lighting thing also......

Its my first time with lowryder and even though its a pretty easy plant, I would not grow them again...The whole autoflower thing is nice because you can have veg and flower plants at the same time but I almost got caught with my pants down a couple of times because they flower pretty soon after they show sex which means that if you miss a male plant, you are fucked...

The yield is ofcourse also not very good.
My next grow will be Pure Power Plant from Nirvana seeds which should propose a nice yield.

I would not go by the pistels, use the scope you have or get the one from radio shack,
Part#63-1133.

The hairs can be very deceiving, don't get me wrong they can be a good indicator as when to start looking, but you really want to check the trichs when it comes to harvesting.

I'd strongly advise you to wait at least a couple of weeks before harvesting those buds man. Your yield should go up considerably and the smoke will be more potent.

No use in wasting all your efforts just to harvest too early.

How long have they been growing so far?

peace

a majority of trich color should be cloudy. if you still see a lot of clear, it's still too early.
if you see mostly cloudy and some amber, then it's time to cut.
if you cut when all the trichs are clear it will be a lot less potent than if you waited another week.
just want you to do what's right for you ya know. i pulled my first grow on exactly 8 weeks. they were a majority cloudy but i still wish i waited a few more days.

Here's some reference pics of trich maturity and when to harvest. Here is a so so pic of when to harvest by pistils. As mentioned ealier Go by trich color

I will wait then....
The situation is as follows:
I have 25 plants....6 of them is in flowering, 4 are of the strain hashplants and will be vegging until im finished with these lowryders....I adopted them because my friend had to close down his grow.
The remaining 15 plants are lowryders in veg...
I had to pull out males and i had some major soil and ph problems early so thats why there are plants in different stages...

the sad part is that i made a huge mistake and a male plants got past my eye and i did't realized it until it was to late so now im pretty fucked...

The first plant got harvestet today......

The other get another 1-2 weeks
there were 23 gram (only buds...not leaves) but the weight should go down to 1/3 at least after 3-4 weeks of drying.

That is a very small harvest. If you give the right lighting, nutes, and pot size, you can have a 24 inch monster, with an ounce per plant. Yes, an ounce or more.

Its only ONE plant and its lowryder......I have 20 more lowryder plants waiting to be harvested so i will have my stuff.

Lowryders aren't supported to produce very high yield and I have the right setup(400w HPS, Canna Nutrients(Flower and Veg), PH adjustet water and so far im going with 6,5 liters pots for the lowryders and 11 liters for other strains.....

Lowryders are very quick and autoflowering(So I run 20/4 life cycle thoughout the whole period)...I am safistied with them but will choose a strain with bigger yield next time.
