LOWRIDER REFUGEES, a sanctuary for the abused

A lad I know asked for some advice for a very simple stress free first grow.

In the end he went for a small grow tent, 250w and 5 feminised lowrider#2 and canna coco in 12l pots.

I haven't grown autos myself but had read that autos don't like being transplanted so suggested after he had germinated them to put them into the 12l pots straight away.

I visited when the seeds had just popped and had been put in the big pots. A good smoke was had and I left him full of optimism for his next two month grow and harvest.

This was the 31 of may.

A week later the call came through. Panic, paranoia, fears of men in the loft, burning down grow rooms, police armed attack raids, etc etc.

'take them away, take them away, take them awaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy!' --- I say lad but this is a grown man I'm talking about here.

So a late night run across the hills and a return with 5 abused and half dead lowrider seedlings. They had had no ventalation just constant heat and huge humidity from the sodden coco. The stench from the pots driving home was awfull.

Once home an emergency operation was carried out in the greenhouse under torchlight. Extracted from the coco and placed in 10l pots of compost and then exposed to the delights of a scottish summer, almost freezing temps in june nights, winds, mist and rain and air temps rarely getting over 15c.

Two of the plants were almost dead the other three in various states of decay with one not doing to bad.

Here they were on june the 22, about 3 weeks old, the back two are typhoons.

Still alive but hardly growing, still they were no trouble and were more than welcome to do there thing.

Time passed, they all received the same treatment, moved into the best sun when it was out and in the green house when the storms were in it.

The rest of the photos were taken yesterday, now at about 10 weeks and just starting to flower!

The photos are in the order that they came out of the growroom, with the most healthy at the time first and the last two were the ones that were almost dead on arrival.

Bonsai!

Things a little different with the third,

These last two were in the worst condition and I almost didn't bother repotting them.

And her flowers,

and the last and by far the most smelly,

Quite a difference!

However.......

As we all know the circle of abuse is never truly broken, and now some of the girls are old enough I have pimped them out to an acquittance of mine.

Meet Mr Typhoon, 6 ft tall and full of bad intentions,

I'll plant the seeds out next year and select for early and more importantly mold resistance.

After all we all have to pay our way.

I'll be back with some photos once the deeds been done.

Yep, first mistake "had read..." Autos don't mind being transplnted, but they sure do mind being put in HUGE waterlogged barrels full of coco. I guess whoever gave the guy that advice didn't know so much.

Sometimes I transplant my masterlow mixes/other low breeds 4 times, if I really want them to get to a meter high, which is seldom... I prefer 14 to 18 inches in a 2 to 3 liter pot... everything kept under control, and potent. No rootbound, no mold. Just right.

if learned the hard way with coco, the hardway being to ignore common sense, and that sense is that coco is a mush blob untill plants are rooted in it, even if u make a 50/50 ct of coco an perlite your actually increaseing mushness not increasing aireation, atleast not right away, u gotta let plant in alot of coco dry out, not ideal for outdoors to pot that way.

I would have thought that these would have been deeper into flower by now being automatics. The cool weather must have bought you some veg time, you could still see decent bud if you get nice weather.

Can't argue with you there:)

Hot, fetid, mushy coco is a smell I will never forget.:puke:

There change from jungle indoor conditions to cold Scottish summer and there move from coco to soil has really effected them. They all seem to have become very individual.

Your plants are absolutely beautiful. The serrations on those leaves are just stunning. Awesome job saving em!

I just love those leaves. It seems that ignoring size there seem to be two phenos in the lowryders.

The two tallest look like I expected them to look the other three have had that almost sativa expression.

Is this a common find among lowryders as I really like the thin leaved type?

I harvested one of the bonsai almost two weeks ago, lovely fruity smells.

Which also makes it my first outdoor harvest:jump::party:
As my mither used to say 'Don't smoke it all at once now'

Smallest bonsai flowering away nicely,
