I am sure there have been posts about this, i saw one but it was not same issue. i have a small growbox inside a cabinet...it is completed but righ tnow i have to have my bototm fan, intake fan unplugged because of how loud it has gotten sinc ebeing put in the cabinet. is there any way of fixing this situation? my cousin suggest a converter that convetred to 6v as opposed to 12v wer it is at now. any advice would be greatly appreciated thanx

If you mounted it to tthe wall, you might also try putting a piece of foam rubber between the fan and the wall when mounting it.

Woody san, converters can be bought that include voltages from 1.5 up to 12. This allows you to choose one of the many voltages you personally need for your grow.

The lower you go in voltage, the less noise the fan makes. I recommend these types of converters 100%, though they are somewhat pricier than the standard 12volt converter because it offers more options.

Good Luck, grasshopper

hey guys interested in this but not sure of the product you are talking about. Can someone post a link to an example please..... one I could purchase

been wondering how I would power some PC case fans without using a PC PSU.

cheers

yea, take the fan out of an old computer, there are three wires, black red and blue. you can snip the blue wire off. then get an adaptor liek that, or from an old cellular phone charger, snip the end, strip the wires. that means using a knife and peeling back some of the plastic to expose the copper wirring. do this for both things then match the wires. normally it is white and red, and black and black go together. put some black electrical tape over the wires and cover them completley. try it out and if it works u did a good job, if not...switch wires re-tape and boom...ur fan is set

ah very clear now.. thanks guys. I have a fan and an old charger. The fan is 12v 1a and the charger is 5v .5a. am figuring on this being under powered. From what I understand a pc psu will give it 12v but run it flat out = more noise.

I will have to look around for the power supply with multiple voltages. I think I have found one but description is unclear.

any one used crossflow fans. I was looking at these...kinda stumbled. I figured I could place them above and between the fluros and draw any heat away like that. I think I can get these at cost.

32db sounds a bit loud to me for something that should be stealthy.... any one have any idea of what 32db is? Is it going to be loud enough to hear easily?

thanks again

yea well depending on what you are wprking with. do you need absolute stealth? i did, which is why i had to switch my loud fan to the 6v charger. i got one at radioshaq, a world of difference. i have two fans running and they are both 6v adapters pumpin and they are silent. the cabinet is also within another cabinet but regardless it depends what you ar elooking for. if you can sacrifice noise, than the 12 v doesn tmatter, if you need it quiet and silent than go with the charger you already haved, it will be fine

hey, I just bought a 120mm 87cfm 33db pc fan, and it is noticeable if you have no other ambient noises. I didn't know either if 33db was loud or not, so I just bought it to find out for myself. If its almost no noise in the room you can def. hear it, but if you have music or somethin else in the background than you can barely hear it unless you put ur ear up to the cab. Peace :joint:

I have my computer just beside my cab with some of these fans, I just let my comp on when people are at my place.
