Hey folks, i was just about to buy this unit

http://www.air-n-water.com/product/AC-1600E.html

but i decided to call frigdedair first to find out if it has an auto-restart feature. Turns out it doesn't which of course is a no no. What other 25,000+ BTU a/cs are out there. What do you use??? the unit above sells for 400 bucks at lowes, i'd spend what ever i have to with in reason but of course the lower the better, thanks guys

Most of the whirlpool line has auto restart and I believe the LG brands have it too, also check out the kenmore line at sears for auto-restart. I use

this one here. Whirlpool 10,000 btu. It has good air flow, cools things good. So far so good on the digital control panel, I've had these things crap out in the past but maybe they've solved the condensation problem. On a side note, the whirlpool has restarted after 3-4 power failures this summer but during a bad lightening storm things were off/on a dozen times in a 30 minute span, confused it I geuss and I found it OFF. Luckily it wasn't long after the storm and temps were still low but cause for concern.
Hope this helps

FYI: A/Cs without the almighty 'auto-restart' may be rewired in about 10 minutes to make the unit come on with the power.

Hey, as long as you are happy with what you got and it gets the job done. Congrats on the purchase.

I made the mistake of buying an a/c with digital controls and no auto-restart. Not many around my area so I had no choice. The hardest and longest part of the ordeal was getting inside of it. Wiring was simple (I have very little experience) and then I just had to let it sit for awhile since I tipped it on it's side.

Take it easy.
