Looking for: Spicy Tasting Weeds

Not sure if this is the right place, but I figure if this is the tokers den, and we are talking about toking, then I can't be far off!

I'm going to create a couple threads with names like this to help people who are looking for particular flavours. List your suggestion, recommendations or experience with strains fitting the flavour profile.

I recently grew out some auto cali haze from shortstuff crossed with some lowryder. Finally after a long ish cure it's starting to get a spicyness. Would need to improve grow and drying condition to really get full quality.

Most haze hybrids have some spicy characteristic. A very old cut of jack herer ,id use peppery to describe one of its characters. Along with about 5 or 6 other flavors and aromas u could pick out.

Is Licorice/ Anise a Spice ?

I've had some great-tasting licorice smelling Cannabis.

A seed from some BC bud that showed up in San Diego, grown in rockwool, named "Lola", after a friend's dog.

Also, some recent Sativa. Mother was a verrrry sweet Sativa, father was Bay Dream. But it smells licorice. I tried 3 different seedlings, each with that licorice.

I guess licorice is pretty distinctive, so if I use it to describe a smell, people know what I mean.

I agree with the peppery jack herer, that's how I know him also. There we're some notes of lemony cleaner too but not much.

I can't pinpoint any strain in particular but I find in general that sativas to have more of a spicy flavour to them whereas indicas tend to be more sweet.

my one keeper durban from seeds of africa has some undertones of anise. some spice to it. kaiki's (cannabiogen) oaxacan's and especially his ghana have spice. the ghana was excellent spicy. seeds of africa zamal and the zamal pheno from ace's zamaldelica have excellent spice.

Columbians are known for their spicy flavor, also some oaxacans can be spicy.

Sativas seem to bring out the "spicey notes" in cannabis- pepper, nutmeg, etc., and indica more the fruity....blueberry, pineapple.

There's an autoflower Lion of Judah (JahSeeds), no longer being made with cinnamon overtones, a sativa predominate ruderallis. Bought some a few years ago....and insured I still have Lion of Judah for the distinctly cinnamon taste, exhale. Since then crossed it with several auto hybrids to keep it going. Tasty! Potent.

Right now my flowering room is on a daytime schedule (flowering during the day).

I was going out for coffee about 5 AM and the door to the room was open a crack.

LOVE THAT SPICEY PRE-FLOWERING SMELL ! :woohoo:

Pakistani Hash Plants are spicy, the original late 80s - early 90s SoCal kind buds were spicy and there was NO Thai in it. They were fat leafed, squat plants, and always called "Kush". :)

I notice the leaves, in pre-flowering, usually have a wonderful spicey smell.

I wonder how this relates to the bud spicey smell, and the manicuring technique.

Does leaving the leaves on while its drying help the plants retain the Spice in their buds ?

Obviously it will apply more to some strains than to others.

I doubt it. the main thing that is going to give the spice aroma and flavor is the terpenes responsible for those aromas. U need to find the right genetics that already have those terpenes in them.
