seedbay & seedboutique = 10 frees seeds with order what if that was 8 ( option to donating more )

if there is 100 sells a month that would be 200 + bean's at auction ( say $50 ) a 10 pack = $600 + 80 seed's witch would be free to winning bidder's

ppl bidding on seeds that are knowen to be good and still get 8 seeds free

i know the free seeds are to get ppl to grow but with out icmag.com ppl will grow to fail

I thinks its a great Idea's to donate bean's to support the site. I would buy them and your never know, it could lead to a world of new genitics discoveries. I would buy the first pack sold.

I honestly believe ALOT of people would cancel their membership rather than deal with paying for a subscripition. I really enjoy my time here on ICM. But there are plenty of other forums that wont ask for confidential information and subscription fees.

Maybe charge more for advertising. You have such a wide demographic it would seem quite lucrative for companies to want to advertise with ICM . Why not contact local business and look to sell ad space? A good place to start would be look in your cannabis magazines (HT,Skunk,CC,WeedWorld, etc..) and look at the companies they advertise, contact them yourselfs and see if they would like to advertise (im sure many of them would jump at the opportunity. Do you charge seed vendors/breeders for having folders (i.e. greenhouse/paradise/etc..)? Soo many ways to raise funds for ICM.

My only responsibility and my job is promotions. So I have quite an erray of thought. Sometimes you just have to think outside of the box.

Maybe advertise the ICM 420 cup on a higher scale? Alot of people know about ICM, but if you would advertise the cup in cannabis magazines (as they are ALWAYS looking for news/events to write about). Not only would you see more people, but you could then charge for it. Those who cant attend will most likely join the forum. Charge tickets like other venues. 100 people x 100 dollars = 10,000. Im sure with all of your connects over in the DAM it would not be hard for you to put together such an event at a low-cost.

Not to mention. If you have people just sending you random seeds. WHO knows what they really are. You start selling bunk seeds under the name of ICM and watch how fast it falls. Its a slippery slope and I think theyre are far more reasonable aspects of which to raise the money and not interfere with international transporting laws.

not everyone has to participate. I could care less about having separate areas for members only. I think that would divide the people. No confidential info...just send in cash.

A voluntary donation system should work fine. How about we get rid of the current 'reputation' system that is a joke as it is now...and replace it with a donation system. The more you contribute. The higher your contribution bar gets...

People like seeing those little green bars... I'm sure if some of these guys could buy them they would. lol So sell them the green bars...

Matter of fact...I am going to send in a donation anyway. GN and crew has always treated me well throughout the years. I have tried to give back as much as I can with time and info shared on the site, but I am going to give some cash this time. A thanks for the home and for the service throughout the years...anyone with me?

I don't think we want to be judged on how much more one donates than another......no class system here. Rep is also optional. Don't wanna use it? Turn it off. Just to be safe, I'd also check with Admin before sending any $$$. I can't find the post now, but I recall DG/Gypsy saying somewhere they don't want people just sending in monatary donations.

Here's a few ideas:
1) The amount of pictures you can store on the site are correlated directly to your reputation, with the exception of vendors with their own forums.
2) Put an immediate lock on new membership until this gets under control. Most of the torrent sites have membership maximums- and purge accounts as they go inactive then let new members in.
3) Persons purchasing seeds from seedbay are more than likely members of this site and frequent both. Perhaps for whatever length of time it takes to get to your goal, you charge an extra dollar or two per order to seedbay to fund the new equipment or services rendered.
4) Archive data older than 2 years on another site and charge via whatever method you want to that.
5) Charge for first shot at auctions on seedbay- kind of an VIP section. I'd rather see costs applied to where I'm prone to send money to anyhow. Personally- I don't think information should be charged for. I agree with an earlier post that if everyone starts slinging pollen and auctioning it, the bay will inherently go down in flames- unless it's directly correlated to reputation on ICMAG.

I will take the unpopular stance and say that I am not willing to pay for access to ANY site, no matter what the content. And I know, Gypsy, you've stated that you weren't asking for money- but other's keep suggesting it. The web is a big place, and there's always something to fill in the gap when people's pocket books are involved for information or other intangibles. I'm not a big fan of some of the other forums, but should a decision come to charge for access, I'm not loyal. And I know I'm nobody here, and no one should probably give a damn about what I say, but since this forum is free and accessible, I figured I'd give a shot at helping out your situation.

There wouldn't be any confidential information needed for your subscription. You could pay in a money order for the handle you use, not your real name.

There's got to be something done. With the amount of members and photo galleries this place is getting expensive to operate. It's just got to be decided which route to go. I would really rather not see it go but I don't have to foot the bills and it is a business and it has to be looked at that way. It would be one thing to move the servers to the US where a lot of money could be saved, but thats not an option for security reasons. I can't get into the costs but I bet less then 5 percent of the members make in a year what it costs to keep this program afloat. Hopefully we can all put our heads together and come up with a way to help offset the costs without having to make drastic changes or the worst case scenario of shutting the place down. It's one thing to have a hobby site with a couple thousand members, it's another to have 35, 000 members with large photo galleries

right or wrong kg...we are all judged. Judgements are made everyday, that is what makes humans humans. Your probably right though, it would still create a class system.

That is the way the rep system is supposed to work...the more you give the more you get. I don't want recognition for giving personally, but that does motivate some. I say if judgements are going to be made...judgements based off of how much some one gives back is not the worst thing in the world.

I will help out any way I can. Personally I think the situation that Red145 laid out in the 10th post off this thread would be the easiest most practical way to raise some funds. I don't think we need to see the exact number though.

-People decide to donate to site or not

-People have the option of contributing with beans or by donating money

-People who donate can win beans. I'm sure enough of us can donate quality genes, for those who aren't donating original breeder packs, we can have a thread in which those who make their own beans to contribute can showcase their strains.

-Winners can be contacted through PM and only notify the rest of us if they choose to. Same for those who donate money.

All this seems like a ton of extra work for the site as well though, so the final determination needs to be light on man hours I assume. Not sure if this fits the bill in that category.

whatever you peeps decide to do will be fine by me though.

I like being able to store my Cannabis related images here & have learned quite a lot. This site has more bells & whistles than I've ever seen. It must take some time & change to run it. Lots of good ideas floating around.

I think you should set up a voluntary donation drive with some type of incentive for different amounts of cash. Whether it be more image space, VIP titles in their names, first shot at quality beans, logo'd items (cup, t-shirt & beans etc for so much $$) Maybe it's time to bring in some help from Vegas.
