Looking for CO2 generator suggestions

Hey everybody, I'm looking for suggestions/reviews on medium to large sized CO2 generators. I am NOT interested in any water cooled generators.

About the room:

12/12 flower room. 20' x 40' x 12' ceiling. Has a natural gas supply line. Looking to maintain CO2 at 1000 to 1200 ppm.

Please let me know what brand/model you would recommend for this room. Also if you know a good controller to go with it, great :)

Thanks and happy farming

One other thing, I'm looking to spend under $1000 on controller and generator combined. If I could get the combo at closer to 600 that would be ideal.

Thanks again :)

I have always used green air....yeehaw..they used to have a section for recommending co2 burner size...

I too have Green Air, the CD-6. That's nice that you have natural gas. I went this route as well. I'm always surprised at how many people go with propane tanks... guess maybe they don't have natural gas available. I just tapped into the natural gas supply years ago and it's all been trouble free. No refilling, lugging stuff around, etc.

Regarding the controller: What do you want to do with it? I used to run a Green Air controller that controlled heat, humidity and CO2 (with a cycle-stat). For years I just charged the room for the suggested amount of time for my cubic feet. Never used a PPM meter.

Currently using a CAP ART-DNe cycle stat with photo eye to cycle the generator only during light hours. Lots of variable involved with controllers depending on what you want it do.

That's a big flower room!

I only need the controller to handle the co2 ppm. After searching the internets for awhile, I'm thinking of settling on the Titan Controls Saturn 5, looks like it offers the most bang for the buck at $160. Controls co2 and also gives humidity and temp readings.

I'm still looking for a generator to pair it to. The Green Air chart is still on their website, that was very helpful, thanks. But the Green Air generator best sized for my room is pricy.

I'm starting to settle on 2 products. The Titan Controls Ares 10 ($400) or the Sentinel GPS ICG-30 Intelligent ($382).

As of now I'm leaning toward the Sentinel. It seems to be the latest model product available, plus it's slightly cheaper. If anyone has experience with any of these products or another recommendation feel free to chime in!

That seems like a pretty good price for the controller. I paid $120 for a PPM monitor that also has temp and humidity but does not control anything.

That also seems to be a good price for the Sentinel, it’s $446 through Amazon. An interesting feature with the Titan is that you have control over the number of burners.

However, with all that said I noticed that the Sentinel provides 27 Cu Ft CO2/Hr whereas the Green Air CD-36 (NG) outputs at 38.4 Cu Ft CO2/Hr.

Nothing against the two brands you’re considering, as I have no experience with them. I just know that my CD-6 is around fourteen years old now; and I’ve never had a problem with it.

You could pick up the controller you’re interested in, and the CD-36, and be around $800. You’d still be under your desired limit of $1000, but a bit above your ideal of $600.

Just some more info to consider and complicate your decision making process. :)

Here’s the CD-36:

I appreciate the help Granger, but I feel more comfortable buying a professionally built generator rather than modifying a water heater. Additionally, I would need multiple water heaters to get my rooms to where I want them. But thanks!

the Gnome shows that the unit he used is the same unit that, re-labeled, is being sold as a CO2 generator, marked up about 250%. -granger
