location of dehumidifier?

I was wondering if it was more beneficial to have it in a certain area of the room? Next to one of the rows of plants? Towards the beginning or end of a room? Close to or away from intake or exhaust?

and finally where should I hang my probe to determine the temp/humidity of my room. I currently have them at plant height right in the center of my room....if i keep it where it is it will soon be engulfed by the plants....should i move them? should i have them in multiple places around the room?

When i have a little more money I am planning on replacing my humidifier (which now runs 24 hrs a day) to one with an gauge and shut off...but again it would be need to be placed in the right part of the room for the readings to be accurate...right?

Thanks for any help!

I hang my sensors at about canopy level in the centre... the dehumidifier can go anywhere, mine is in the opposite corner to my ventilation, if you have good air circulation the humidity should average itself out as the dehumidifier does it's job.

I put it close to the exhaust in the summer because it throws a lot of heat, any where else and it will raise the whole room temp 5 degrees, which is no good in the summer.
In the winter the humidity drops low enough that I hardly ever run it.

I have 4 temp/humidity gauges in various spots around my room, I don't like to rely on just one.

Place it in an accessible spot (corner of a room) where the water tray can be easily emptied.

Ideally it should be placed in the area of the garden where the most water condensates,

thanks for the replies! I decided on the corner of the room (but still space from the walls) on the opposite side of the room from my exhaust. It is sitting outside the closet where my res is.....seems to be working....it isn't a very good one, so I have to run it 24/7, but it has been keeping my room at 40-50% so I feel happy.....right?

They put out a TON OF HEAT and will be easier to use if the addition of a draining hose is added hence getting rid of the emptying every day. If you cannot do that I have used a short hose running into a 5 gallon water jug with a handle that worked very well.

Ideally you want the sucking part in your room and the exiting (heat)sticking out the other side of the wall if that is possible if not simply put it somewhere your girls are not effected by the heat she produces and is easily accessible for water drainage.

I agree....right now my temps are fine with it running in the room(it actually helps keep my temp above 60 F when the lights are off), but i know as the weather warms it will be a problem....hopefully by then i will have a new, different one any way...thanks!
